...WIND ADVISORY REMAINS IN EFFECT UNTIL 4 PM PST /5 PM MST/ THIS
AFTERNOON...

* WHAT...North winds 25 to 30 mph with gusts 40 to 45 mph 
  expected, primarily from Lake Mohave south to Lake Havasu City.

* WHERE...In Arizona, Lake Havasu and Fort Mohave and Lake Mead 
  National Recreation Area. In California, San Bernardino County-
   Upper Colorado River Valley. In Nevada, Lake Mead National 
  Recreation Area.

* WHEN...From 7 AM PST /8 AM MST/ to 4 PM PST /5 PM MST/ Today.

* IMPACTS...Gusty winds could blow around unsecured objects. 
  Tree limbs could be blown down and a few power outages may 
  result.

* ADDITIONAL DETAILS...Boaters in the Wind Advisory area should 
  use extreme caution when venturing onto area lakes. Strong 
  winds over the open waters will make the lake water rough and 
  hazardous...and may result in high waves which may tip or 
  swamp smaller craft. For your personal safety...avoid the open 
  waters. Stay close to shore or around protected areas.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

Use extra caution when driving, especially if operating a high
profile vehicle. Secure outdoor objects.

.SYNOPSIS...Beyond some gusty north winds in the Colorado River
Valley this weekend, relatively quiet and dry conditions expected
for several days. Warming trend pushes temperatures above normal
by Monday. Next storm system approaches later in the work week.
&&

.SHORT TERM...through Sunday.
High pressure will begin to build over the region this weekend
bringing a warming trend along with mainly clear skies. Another
chilly night is in store for most areas, but lows are not expected
to be as cold as this morning. Still, a couple of records could be
in jeopardy once again Saturday morning. The trough that brought the
colder and windy weather to the region will continue to push east
ahead of high pressure, however, surface pressure gradients will
remain fairly tight down the lower Colorado River. Most areas will
see winds generally 10-20 mph with a few gusts to 25 mph, but in the
more favored areas south of Laughlin/Bullhead City some gusts may
reach 35 mph at times with some localized wave heights around 2
feet, however, those higher waves will not be widespread. Gradients
will relax a bit on Sunday, but breezy conditions are again expected
along the lower Colorado River Valley.

Temperatures will steadily warm through the weekend with readings in
Las Vegas expected to be in the upper 50s Saturday, lower 60s on
Sunday, and then into the mid 70s by Monday.

.LONG TERM...Monday through Thursday.
High pressure will remain settled over the area through mid week
allowing for temperatures to continue to warm through Wednesday.
There may still be some isolated wind gusts in the lower Colorado
River Valley, but overall winds will be much lighter early next
week.

On Thursday, cluster analysis depicts some spread in the
ensemble simulations regarding depth and timing of a trough moving
into the Pacific Northwest. For now, NBM does start to paint slight
chance PoPs across northern Inyo, Esmeralda and central Nevada.
Again, this will likely change in the coming days as models get a
better grasp on depth and timing of the trough.

.AVIATION...For Harry Reid...North-northeast winds will remain
in place into this evening before diminishing and becoming light and
variable, however, winds may favor a northeast direction at times
with speeds remaining under 6 kts. Northeast winds will increase
again after 17z Saturday with speeds generally between 7-10 kts. No
significant clouds.

For the rest of southern Nevada, northwest Arizona and southeast
California...General north-northeast winds around 10 knots or less
can be expected through Saturday across the region except 15-25
knots with local gusts to around 30 knots in the lower Colorado
River Valley. No significant clouds.
