[Through 06Z Monday]

Most TAF sites are now at MVFR cigs, and will remain there until
near sunrise when cigs will lift to VFR. Southwest winds will
increase tonight ahead of the storms. While there may be some
LLWS, was not confident enough to put in the TAFs through this
morning. A line of thunderstorms will move across the area from
west to east. Expect an increase in winds and a reduction in
visibility with these storms. Some storms may also be severe. A
wind shift out of the northwest is expected behind the storms.
Winds remain breezy through the end of the TAF period with LLWS
expected at all TAF sites after 00z.

.PREV DISCUSSION [821 PM EST]...

.NEAR TERM [Through Sunday]...

The main concern is the potential for severe weather on Sunday. All
models are in general agreement on a rather sharp cold front moving
through during the day. The typical mesoscale differences remain
with the 12z NAM surface winds a bit more backed than the 12z GFS.
These kinds of small differences will help to determine the overall
tornado threat with this system. All guidance agrees that we'll see
a QLCS develop west of the area tonight and move across the area
during the day. One interesting thing to note with this system is
that the low level jet intensifies throughout the day as the
squall line pushes through the area, which may lead to a gradual
intensification of the line the farther east it gets. This
potential increase in the low level wind field across the eastern
half of the area will be something to watch closely for Sunday
afternoon, particularly as it coincides with peak heating across
the area. Forecast soundings certainly show plenty of shear with
0-6 km shear values in excess of 60 knots and 0-1 km shear values
near 40 knots across the eastern half of the area on the 12z NAM.
Currently, the latest day 2 SPC outlook has the entire area
outlooked in a marginal risk for severe storms. Locally, the
overall threat is probably a bit higher across the eastern half of
the area compared to the western half due to the more favorable
time of day along with the potential low level jet increase.

.SHORT TERM [Sunday Night Through Monday Night]...

A cold front will be exiting the CWA Sunday night with showers and
thunderstorms on an overall downward trend. Behind this, dry weather
is expected for Monday and Monday night and we'll see a drastic
change temperature wise. Low temperatures Sunday night will be
considerably cooler with lows in the 30s and 40s. Despite this large
change in temperatures, these lows will be around normal for this
time of year. Wind chills may even be in the upper 20s across
portions of southeast Alabama Monday morning. Monday will continue
to be chilly during the day with highs in the 50s which are below
normal.

.LONG TERM [Tuesday Through Saturday]...

Nearly zonal flow will be in place to start the long term with high
pressure at the surface situated over the Carolinas. A weak upper
level wave will move through the region later in the day on Tuesday
though, helping to increase cloud coverage. Another cold front will
approach the southeast on Thursday, resulting in increased rain
chances Wednesday night through Thursday night. Behind this, high
pressure will build in which will help to limit rain chances for
Friday and Saturday. Highs initially in the 50s and 60s will
increase by mid week to the 60s and 70s and quickly retreat back to
the 50s and 60s on Friday behind the front.

.MARINE...

Winds and seas will be on an increase tonight into tomorrow as a
cold front moves through the region on Sunday. Have upgraded the
Gale Watch to a Gale Warning and that is mainly in effect for gusts,
although a brief period of sustained winds around gale force is
possible. Winds and seas will begin to decrease on Monday, however
advisory level wave heights are still possible and thus may need to
consider a Small Craft Advisory for Monday. Another front late in
the week will bring the return of at least exercise caution
conditions to the region, though lower end advisory conditions are
possible.

.FIRE WEATHER...

A line of showers and thunderstorms will move through the forecast
area on Sunday, bringing the potential for strong wind gusts and
lightning. Winds will shift out of the northwest behind these storms
and remain breezy through Monday. Overall, the fire weather concerns
remain low.

.HYDROLOGY...

A line of showers and thunderstorms is expected to move through the
region on Sunday and given the progressive nature of the system,
only around an inch of rain is expected. Widespread river and flash
flooding is not anticipated. However, the strong southwest to
west winds Sunday into Monday may result in minor coastal
flooding of 1-2 feet in Dixie and Taylor counties and a Coastal
Flood Advisory has been issued for that region.
