.SYNOPSIS...
Warmer weather is in store for today, with gusty northeasterly
Santa Ana winds in the mountains and foothills. Winds will begin
to diminish this afternoon. Stronger and more widespread Santa Ana
winds are expected late Friday through Saturday, with winds
peaking in intensity Saturday morning. Winds will relax late
Saturday through Sunday.

COUNTIES...
At 9 AM, skies were mostly clear across SoCal. The pressure
gradient from San Diego to SW Nevada remains moderately offshore
at -7.1 mb, resulting in Santa Ana winds in the northern mountains
and coastal slopes. North to northeast winds should be peaking in
the next couple of hours, with gusts around 50 mph. Winds will
relax this afternoon and evening.
With the Santa Ana winds, the high temperatures today for the
coast and valleys will be around 10 degrees warmer than Wednesday,
with highs in the mid to upper 70s. A few degrees of cooling is
expected for Friday.
An upper level low will drop south from the Great Basin into
southwest Arizona or southeast California on Friday. A surface
high pressure will develop over the Great Basin behind the upper
low on Friday, peaking at 1040 mb. This means another round of
stronger Santa Ana winds for SoCal late Friday through Saturday.
Northeast to east winds will begin in the northern mountains,
Inland Empire, and inland Orange County Friday evening, then
spread south into San Diego County late Friday night. Winds will
peak in intensity Saturday morning. The strongest gusts are
expected in the San Bernardino County mountains and foothills, as
well as the Santa Ana mountains, with gusts in excess of 60 mph expected.
Gusty winds are also expected in the Inland Empire and inland
Orange County, with widespread gusts in the 40 mph range expected.
For the mountains and foothills in San Diego County, winds are not
going to be as strong as the northern areas, but gusts in the 50
mph range, perhaps near 60 mph in the windiest spots, is
possible.
Winds will diminish late Saturday into Sunday as the surface high
pressure relaxes, though lighter northeast winds will continue on
Sunday, mainly through the passes and windiest canyons. The upper
level low will push inland late Sunday. For early next week, there
remains quite a bit of uncertainty in the pattern, with another
upper level low potentially developing near the West Coast or over
the Great Basin.

201505Z...Mostly clear skies through tonight. Localized vis 3-5SM in
coastal basin through 17Z. Gusty northeast winds will increase and
spread from the foothills into portions of valleys and inland Orange
County this morning. Gusts of 25-50 mph will produce weak to
moderate up/downdrafts and LLWS in lee (west) of hills. Winds will
weaken this afternoon and evening.

Strong and gusty northeast winds will develop Friday evening and
continue into Saturday. Strongest gusts of 25-30 knots are expected
in a wide corridor between Camp Pendleton and San Clemente Island,
which would produce hazardous boating conditions. No additional
marine weather hazards are expected through Monday.
