.SHORT TERM...(This evening through Tuesday)

Quick zonal pattern over a large chunk of the CONUS today. There
is another trough beginning to develop in the Rockies as a strong
upper level jet dives southeast along the west coast. Early
morning clouds/fog have cleared out with generally sunny skies
over the forecast area today. This has helped raise temperatures
into the low to mid 50s so far.

Will begin to see low pressure develop in the high plains tonight
as the upper level trough deepens in the rockies. Ahead of the
developing low pressure, a strong low level jet will develop with
850 winds of 60+ kts. We are anticipating surface winds to begin
gusting later this evening and become fairly windy during the
overnight heading into Tuesday ahead of the front. Some wind
gusts of 40 to 45 mph will be possible over western MO and
southeast KS. At this time, we are planning on holding off on any
advisory as it will be borderline just shy of advisory criteria.

Temperatures will be much warmer than normal on Tuesday with the
strong southerly winds advecting in much warmer air ahead of the
front. We are not expecting any record highs, but highs in the mid
to upper 60s will be possible.

The best moisture surge and instability will lift northeast
towards the bootheel of MO and points south and east of that
during the afternoon Tuesday ahead of the front. We may see some
convection develop along/ahead of the front in our far eastern
counties, but most of the precipitation with this event will be
out of the CWA. A few storms may also be strong to approaching
severe limits, but should be short lived if they develop in our
area.

.LONG TERM...(Tuesday Night through Monday)

The front will quickly push southeast through the area Tuesday
night with much colder and drier air moving into the area behind
the front. Tuesday nights lows will dip into the mid to upper 20s,
with highs on Wednesday much colder in the mid 30s to mid 40s.

Surface high pressure will move over the area on Wednesday night
with a light and variable wind and mostly clear sky. Lows will
likely dip into the upper teens in some eastern valleys and the
mid 20s out west.

The large high pressure system will shift east of the area on
Thursday into Thursday night.

The upper pattern will remain active over the weekend with another
quick moving system moving into the area. A stronger low will move
into the area early next week which will bring another chance of
active weather to the area. Timing and placement of the features
at this time are still showing some large differences within the
operational deterministic models and ensemble data.

An impressive low level jet of 60+ kt located over southeast KS
and southwest MO will result in notable low level wind shear
overnight. Gusty southeast winds up to 40 kt are possible late
tonight into the morning hours. Brief MVFR ceilings are also
possible at the sites this morning ahead of an approaching cold
front, but any precipitation will likely remain east of the TAF
sites. Winds will shift to the northwest behind the front during
the evening.

Ozarks and extreme southeast Kansas.

Weather hazards expected...

DISCUSSION...

Wind gusts up to 45 mph will be possible late tonight into
tomorrow morning across southwest Missouri and southeast Kansas.

.DAYS TWO THROUGH SEVEN...Tuesday through Saturday.

Wind gusts ranging from 30 to 40 mph will be possible on Tuesday
ahead of a cold front.

A few thunderstorms will be possible Tuesday evening over south
central Missouri as a cold front surges through the region. Some
of the storms may be strong to severe.

Windy conditions combined with a dry airmass might produce
elevated fire weather conditions on Wednesday and Thursday
afternoons.
