...FLASH FLOOD WARNING REMAINS IN EFFECT UNTIL 6 PM EDT THIS EVENING 
FOR SOUTHEASTERN LAWRENCE, SOUTHWESTERN LINCOLN, LOGAN, NORTHWESTERN 
MINGO AND SOUTHEASTERN WAYNE COUNTIES...

At 355 PM EDT, Doppler radar indicated thunderstorms producing heavy 
rain across the warned area. Between 1 and 1.5 inches of rain have 
fallen. Additional rainfall amounts of 0.5 to 1.5 inches are 
possible in the warned area. Flash flooding is ongoing or expected 
to begin shortly.

HAZARD...Flash flooding caused by thunderstorms.

SOURCE...Radar.

IMPACT...Flash flooding of small creeks and streams, urban areas,
         highways, streets and underpasses as well as other poor
         drainage and low-lying areas.

Some locations that will experience flash flooding include...
  Logan, Man, Delbarton, Holden, Mount Gay-Shamrock, Chief Logan 
  State, Chattaroy, Dunlow, Mallory, Amherstdale-Robinette, West 
  Logan, Kermit, Mitchell Heights, Dingess, Myrtle, Verdunville, 
  Breeden, Lenore, Mount Gay and Switzer.

Water over road south of Dunlow, including Routes 52 and 152, and 
Cotton Hill Road.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

Turn around, don't drown when encountering flooded roads. Most flood 
deaths occur in vehicles.

Report flooding to the National Weather Service by calling toll

.SYNOPSIS...
Unsettled weather will continue with daily shower and storm
chances through the work week. Drier conditions finally return
behind a cold frontal passage this weekend.

&&

.NEAR TERM /THROUGH WEDNESDAY/...
As of 205 PM Tuesday...

A surface boundary will remain over the area through the period.
Pieces of energy embedded within the northwest flow at H500 will
keep the atmosphere unsettled into Wednesday. These two features
will interact to keep chances for showers or storms going tonight.
Diurnal heating acting upon abundant moisture as seen on PWATs
reaching 2 inches will contribute to destabilize the atmosphere
resulting in SB CAPE exceeding 3,000 J/kg under a marginal shear
environment of around 30 knots. Therefore, continue with likely PoPs
on Wednesday for showers and thunderstorms, some could be severe
with a threat for damaging winds and hail. In addition, stronger
storms may produce locally heavy downpours and associated
localized flooding.

The area remains under a slight risk for severe thunderstorms and
slight risk for excessive rainfall on Wednesday.

Muggy tonight with lows above normal, generally in the 70s.
Temperatures will remain hot Wednesday afternoon in the
lowlands, generally around 90 degrees, ranging into the mid 70s
higher elevations.

.SHORT TERM /WEDNESDAY NIGHT THROUGH FRIDAY/...
As of 228 PM Tuesday...

The region will continue to be located under nwly mid/upper level
flow through the period. Models suggest a shortwave will push
southeast Wednesday night with another one approaching the area
Friday. These are just the features that the models are
diagnosing. In addition, there could be others that may develop
in relation to convection.

Showers and storms are possible at almost any time, with the
greatest coverage expected to be during the peak in diurnal
heating as well as in relationship to any disturbance in the
flow.

SPC has the region in a marginal or slight risk of severe storms
Thursday and would not be surprised to see some part of the
area with a severe threat again on Friday.

With abundant moisture in place, WPC has highlighted the region
in a marginal or slight risk of excessive rainfall for Thursday
and Friday as well.

Temperatures are expected to be near normal for this time of the
year.  However, it will feel much warmer during the day.

.LONG TERM /FRIDAY NIGHT THROUGH TUESDAY/...
As of 1228 PM Tuesday...

A stronger mid-level trof will sweep southeast across the
region on Saturday. This feature is expected to push a cold
front south which should generally bring an end to the
unsettled weather Saturday night.

Current thinking is that there may be enough low-level moisture
remaining on Sunday for the development of a few afternoon and
evening storms across the mountain counties.

Behind the front, cooler and drier high pressure will build in
with daytime highs Saturday and Sunday below normal. The lows
Saturday night and Sunday night will also be quite pleasant.

Southerly winds on the backside of the high will result in a
warming trend with low-level moisture returning as well. Expect
readings for Monday and Tuesday to be close to or slightly
above normal.

Another system will approach the area late in the period with
shower and storm chances returning.

.AVIATION /19Z TUESDAY THROUGH SUNDAY/...
As of 126 PM Tuesday...

Showers and thunderstorms will continue to affect the area this
afternoon and evening. Bands of showers and storms producing
brief periods of IFR/LIFR will be common with a direct hit to a
terminal. Weather conditions remains active with another
disturbance dropping down from the north tonight. Outside
showers, VFR/MVFR ceilings will prevail through Wednesday.
Therefore, coded restrictions to visibilities and ceilings
through at least midnight. Then, expect a lull or a decrease in
convective activity overnight until the next batch of storms
approaches during the predawn hours Wednesday morning.

Areas of fog or low stratus may develop overnight affecting
areas that received rainfall previously.
