.SYNOPSIS...
High pressure will briefly cross the region today. Low pressure
will impact the region Sunday. High pressure will return Monday
and Tuesday. Another storm system may impact the region later in
the week.

.NEAR TERM /THROUGH TONIGHT/...
Latest analysis depicts the frontal system which crossed the
region late yesterday now well off the coast. High pressure is
centered over Kentucky. The gradient remains a bit tight, so
still have a stiff NW wind with occasional gusts into the 20 mph
range, but cooling overnight and the weakening gradient has led
these to diminish. Most places will nudge into the 30s by dawn,
but warmer locales will stay in the 40s.
Pesky stratocumulus deck remains trapped under the inversion
across northern areas, but this continues to diminish as dry air
advects into the region, so expect a mostly sunny day region-
wide. Winds may perk up a little after sunrise thanks to
mixing/insolation, but any uptick will be followed by a downtick
this afternoon as the high shifts to just south of us near Cape
Hatteras and the gradient continues to relax. Temps will end up
similar to yesterday, with most places into the 50s.
Dry conditions prevail tonight. However, storm system currently
taking shape over Texas will head rapidly northeast, with clouds
spreading across the region, so expect cloudy skies by dawn
Sunday. Light SW winds will prevail as the high heads out to
sea, and the clouds should hold temps up a little. However, dry
air will be in place and we'll start out clear, so we'll
probably dip into the 30s in most spots before rebounding later
at night as the clouds move in.

.SHORT TERM /SUNDAY THROUGH MONDAY NIGHT/...
The forecast for Sunday remains largely unchanged this forecast
cycle. With the amplified upper-level pattern coming into
place, it continues to look like the majority of the
precipitation will hold off until around mid-morning Sunday,
although some lighter rain earlier in the morning can't be ruled
out. With the overall pattern remaining progressive, the
surface low pressure should keep moving right along and the rain
should largely wrap up by the late evening and early overnight
hours. Widespread PWATs around 1.5 inches continue to indicate
that the rain may be moderate to heavy at times, particularly in
the afternoon. The QPF forecast also remains largely unchanged
with 0.5 to 1.0 inches of storm total accumulation generally
expected across the area. While the PWATs are generally 2.5 to 3
standard deviations above normal for this time of the year, the
threat for any excessive rainfall in the region appears to be
low given the quick moving nature of the overall system.
With the surface low moving out to the north and east Sunday
night, a typical cold air advection setup moves in with a strong
surface pressure gradient left in the wake of the system. This
means that Monday looks to be a breezy day with forecast wind
gusts around to 20 to 25 mph. Skies will generally become clear
but some greater cloud coverage may hang around the Lehigh
Valley and Southern Poconos as can be typical in these CAA
setups. With the loss of diurnal mixing and high pressure
beginning to move in, winds should drop off fairly rapidly
Monday night.

.LONG TERM /TUESDAY THROUGH FRIDAY/...
High pressure take a brief hold on the region Tuesday which
should provide a fair day for the region. Temperatures on
Tuesday look to be slightly below normal with highs generally in
upper 40s to low 50s across the area.
Wednesday looks to be the next chance for precipitation across
the region. In general, a surface low likely forms in the
central U.S. co-located with an upper level trough. Confidence
has continued to increase that once this system does arrive into
the region, it will bring another round of rain to the region.
As a result, likely to categorical PoPs were introduced for much
of the region during the daytime on Wednesday. However, how
quickly this system progresses eastward remains to be seen and
as a result, there are still some questions as to exactly how
strong this system will be once it arrives in the area. What
looks to be a bit more certain though is that the system looks
to bring some strong warm air advection out ahead of it and as a
result, temperatures on Wednesday will likely be above normal
for the majority of the area.
Beyond the system on Wednesday, another surface high pressure
looks to move into the region to round out the work week next
week.

.AVIATION /09Z SATURDAY THROUGH WEDNESDAY/...

Today...VFR with winds generally NW around 10 kts with a few
higher gusts this morning, diminishing to 5-10 kts this
afternoon. High confidence.
Tonight...VFR with winds becoming SW around 5 kts. Increasing
high clouds, but cigs remaining far above VFR limits. High
confidence.
Outlook...
Sunday...MVFR conditions likely with IFR conditions also
possible. Periods of rain, possibly heavy at times. Heaviest
rain and greatest restrictions most likely in the afternoon and
into the evening. South/Southwest winds around 10-15 kts, with
gusts 20-25 kts. Higher gusts possible closer to the coast. High
confidence on overall pattern, moderate confidence on timing of
greatest restrictions.
Monday...Mainly VFR as skies should mostly clear out by the
afternoon. Westerly winds 10 to 15 kts with gusts 20 to 25 kts.
Winds/gusts decline in the evening. Moderate confidence.
Tuesday...VFR. Winds light and variable becoming southerly
around 5 knots or less later in the day. High confidence.
Wednesday...Sub-VFR conditions likely with rain moving through
the region. Winds of 10-15 kts, gusting to around 20 kts begin
southerly become westerly behind the front. Moderate confidence
on overall pattern, low confidence on timing of wind shifts and
any restrictions.

into the overnight hours.
Monday...SCA conditions likely with westerly winds gusting to
