at Mount Vernon is expected to rise above flood stage late Tuesday
evening, and will remain above flood stage for the rest of the week.
PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...
Motorists should not attempt to drive around barricades or drive
cars through flooded areas.
Caution is urged when walking near riverbanks.
Turn around, don't drown when encountering flooded roads. Most flood
deaths occur in vehicles.

Issued at 525 AM CST Sun Feb 6 2022 Updated the aviation discussion for the 12Z TAF issuance. && .SHORT TERM...(Today through Tuesday night) Issued at 158 AM CST Sun Feb 6 2022 The short term forecast period will be fairly active when it comes to shortwave ridge/trough passages and wind shifts but, due to a lack of moisture, is expected to remain dry. In the early morning hours, skies will be clear. Calm winds should allow early AM lows to drop below 20 for most of the Quad State with the lowest values tending to be in northwestern portions that have higher snow depth. A little bit of fog has formed so far, but guidance does not suggest that this will be a widespread issue. A long-wave ridge is set up on the Pacific coast. At the moment, upper-level flow across the Quad State is zonal, but this will soon change to an average of northwesterly. Embedded in the synoptic pattern will be multiple upper-level shortwave troughs with a shortwave ridge in between. The first trough is forecast to move through Sunday night into Monday morning. The second arrives late Tuesday night. In both instances, cloud cover will increase for a roughly 18 hour duration, and a cold front will shift winds from southerly to northwesterly. The bumpy shortwave trough/ridge/trough pattern will bounce temperatures around a little. Highs in the upper 30s to mid-40s today, which will melt much of the snow/ice, will dip a little on Monday then increase on Tuesday to the upper half of the 40s. Lows increase to the lower half of the 20s tonight, drop a little Monday night, and then increase to the lower half of the 30s Tuesday night. .LONG TERM...(Wednesday through Saturday) Issued at 158 AM CST Sun Feb 6 2022 No significant weather of concern is forecast in the long term portion of the forecast. Generally good model agreement yields relatively high forecast confidence through the period. The mid/upper flow pattern during the middle to latter part of the week will be influenced by a blocking ridge over the Pacific Coast with a mean trough across the eastern half of the nation. This will result in westerly to northwesterly flow across the forecast area through much of the period. A series of mainly dry frontal passages are expected late Tuesday night into Wednesday morning, late Wednesday night into Thursday morning, and then again late Friday into Friday night. While an increase in cloud cover is forecast with each frontal passage, no precipitation is expected at this time given the lack of return moisture. That said, it's possible that sprinkles or flurries may eventually need to be added to the forecast with one or two of the frontal passages later in the week. Temperatures through the period are forecast to oscillate within 5 to 10 degrees of climatological norms. As a result, highs should generally range from the 40s into the 50s, while lows range from the 20s into the 30s. && .AVIATION...
