.SYNOPSIS...
There will be periods of showers and thunderstorms through the
Fourth of July. Look for potentially heavy rain showers and
lightning over the holiday weekend. The rest of next week looks to
trend drier and warmer with showers and thunderstorms isolated
and mostly over the mountains.

.DISCUSSION...
Tonight through Monday Night: Large closed low over NW Washington
continues to send mid level waves into the region, with a strong
one triggering numerous showers and thunderstorms over NE
Washington into the ID Panhandle. Afternoon heating allowed for
strong surface based instability for these thunderstorms to
develop producing heavy rain and isolated hail up to quarter size.
Flash Flooding and Severe Thunderstorm Warnings have been issued
for several of these storms.  The bulk of this convection will
shift to areas near the Canadian border into early this evening
but another round of thunderstorms developing over the Central
Cascades will impact areas in Chelan, Okanogan, and Douglas
counties through the evening and possibly the western basin per
the CAM's models. Heavy rain from thunderstorms are the main
concerns, with strong to severe storms through the afternoon most
favored over far NE Washington into the North Idaho Panhandle, as
well as the Camas Prairie area into the Central Panhandle
Mountains. Additional convection over NE Oregon will track into
the Blue Mountains, Camas Prairie, and Central Panhandle Mountains
this evening possibly clipping the LC Valley. Much of this
activity will move out overnight into early Monday before the next
wave brings more showers and possible Thunderstorms on Monday.
Overall there is less instability to work with, but slow moving
storms especially in the Cascades could lead to additional Flash
Flooding. A Flash Flood Watch remains in effect for many of the
counties over northern Washington. JW

Tuesday through Sunday:
As the previous storm system shifts out of the Inland Northwest, a
warming and drying trend is expected across the region. Moisture
isn't completely swept out of the region heading into the middle of
next week, however, so some weak impulses could kick off additional
showers, most likely during the afternoon hours over the Cascades
and northern mountains near the Canadian border. Daytime temps
should warm back to near or slightly above normal into the latter
stages of the week. /KD

.AVIATION...
18Z TAFS: An upper level low pressure system will sit off of the
Northwest coastline today. A potent shortwave disturbance is
rounding this upper level low moving through Oregon early this
morning. Thunderstorms have already developed as of 17z around
Walla Walla and just south of Moses Lake which will continue to
move north and increase during the late morning and afternoon
hours. Expect torrential rainfall with thunderstorms today with
airports at Wenatchee, Chelan, Methow Valley, Omak, Colville,
Sandpoint and Bonners Ferry seeing the best chances to be impacted
by lightning and heavy downpours. Showers and thunderstorms will
shift north of the region through the evening hours. JW

.DAY ONE...TODAY AND TONIGHT

Numerous thunderstorms containing torrential rainfall are
expected today with thunderstorms increasing in coverage late
this morning into the afternoon. Slow storm motion with very heavy
rain will be a concern for flash flooding or debris flows with a
particular concern for areas in and below recent burn scars and in
steep terrain. Flooding of low lying areas, small streams and
urban flooding will also be a concern. Strongest storms will also
be capable of small hail and gusty outflow winds.

.DAYS TWO THROUGH SEVEN...MONDAY THROUGH SATURDAY

Another round of showers and thunderstorms with heavy downpours
are expected for the 4th of July holiday. Flash flooding and
debris flows will continue to be a concern with these storms.

...A strong thunderstorm will impact portions of southeastern
Stevens, north central Spokane and south central Pend Oreille
Counties through 215 PM PDT...

At 145 PM PDT, Doppler radar was tracking a strong thunderstorm near
Deer Park, or 24 miles north of Spokane, moving northeast at 15 mph.

HAZARD...Wind gusts up to 50 mph and half inch hail.

SOURCE...Radar indicated.

IMPACT...Gusty winds could knock down tree limbs and blow around
         unsecured objects. Minor damage to outdoor objects is
         possible.

Locations impacted include...
Deer Park, Loon Lake and Clayton.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

Torrential rainfall is also occurring with this storm and may lead to
localized flooding. Do not drive your vehicle through flooded
roadways.

This storm may intensify, so be certain to monitor local radio

miles north of Colville, or 66 miles northwest of Priest River,
moving north at 10 mph.

Priest River, moving northeast at 10 mph.

HAZARD...Winds in excess of 40 mph and penny size hail.
