.DISCUSSION...

We're in the midst of it at forecast time. Quite a few storms are on
radar and some are spitting out plenty of hail and gusty winds.
These storms will be moving into an area which should sustain them
as they push across the rest of the mid-state this afternoon. A
Tornado Watch has been issued for 3 Cumberland Plateau counties,
as well. Bottom line, severe weather, while the likelihood remains
relatively low, is still possible through 4 or 5 pm CDT. This is
when we expect shear values to drop off to the point where severe
weather will become much less likely. In addition, the second
thing we're waiting for is the passage of the frontal boundary
responsible for lifting these storms. At forecast time, it's just
now breaking into our far northwest counties. As it progresses
across the area and winds become northwest, expect the severe
weather threat to end. That may not preclude your from seeing a
shower or hearing a rumble of thunder, but know that once the wind
shifts, you should be out of the woods.

Rains could linger into Saturday morning on the Plateau, but by noon
on Saturday, rains should completely east of us and once they are,
we're in line for an extended period of dry weather. In fact, we're
going to get a shot of summer to start next week as a rather
amplified upper ridge traverses the region. Lows 90s will be
possible Tuesday and Wednesday. Once the ridge gets east of us, we
should drop back into the 80s, but this is still above seasonal
norms for Middle TN.

Our next shot of rain may not be until a week from today as a large
upper low retrogrades towards the Atlantic seaboard, so you
gardeners may need to get the water buckets out and keep them out
for awhile.

.AVIATION...
18Z TAF DISCUSSION.

Current VFR conditions at all TAF sites will become MVFR by 22/23Z
as the surface front moves through central TN. Unless a terminal
has a thunderstorm pass directly overhead VIS should stay good.
Winds are southwesterly and will turn more westerly with the front
and then northwesterly after FROPA. Winds will be gusting
20-25kts. The gusts may relax a bit overnight and pick back up
again Saturday late morning/early afternoon. All TAF sites
expected to become IFR overnight and CSV could even become LIFR.
IFR will remain through the TAF period.

This Hazardous Weather Outlook is for Middle Tennessee.

.DAY ONE...Today and tonight.

Strong to severe thunderstorms will be possible this morning through
the late afternoon across Middle Tennessee, especially along and
east of I-65. Main hazards with any severe thunderstorm that develops
will be damaging winds and small hail. The formation of a tornado or
two can not be ruled out.

.DAYS TWO THROUGH SEVEN...Saturday through Thursday.

No hazardous weather is expected at this time.

.SPOTTER INFORMATION STATEMENT...

Spotter activation may be needed. Please relay any
information about observed severe weather to the NWS while following
all local, state, and CDC guidelines.

...Strong thunderstorms will impact portions of southern Marshall and
Bedford Counties through 200 PM CDT...

At 126 PM CDT, Doppler radar was tracking strong thunderstorms along
a line extending from Lewisburg to Fayetteville. Movement was east
at 45 mph.

HAZARD...Wind gusts up to 50 mph and half inch hail.

SOURCE...Radar indicated.

IMPACT...Gusty winds could knock down tree limbs and blow around
         unsecured objects. Minor damage to outdoor objects is
         possible.

Locations impacted include...
Shelbyville, Lewisburg, Cornersville, Wartrace, Bell Buckle, Belfast
and Raus.

This includes Interstate 65 between mile markers 23 and 28.

De Kalb, southwestern Jackson, northwestern White and western Putnam
Counties through 200 PM CDT...

At 136 PM CDT, Doppler radar was tracking a strong thunderstorm near
Smithville, moving northeast at 30 mph.

HAZARD...Winds in excess of 40 mph and half inch hail.

SOURCE...Radar indicated.

IMPACT...Gusty winds could knock down tree limbs and blow around
         unsecured objects. Minor damage to outdoor objects is
         possible.

Locations impacted include...
Cookeville, Smithville, Gainesboro, Baxter, Gordonsville, Hickman,
Alexandria, Dowelltown, Liberty, Hamptons Crossroads, Bakers
Crossroads, Burgess Falls State Park, Center Hill Lake, Granville and
Edgar Evans State Park.

This includes Interstate 40 between mile markers 260 and 290.

Cumberland, eastern White and southeastern Putnam Counties through
215 PM CDT...

At 140 PM CDT, Doppler radar was tracking a strong thunderstorm 8
miles east of Sparta, moving northeast at 25 mph.

HAZARD...Winds in excess of 40 mph and penny size hail.

SOURCE...Radar indicated.

IMPACT...Gusty winds could knock down tree limbs and blow around
         unsecured objects. Minor damage to outdoor objects is
         possible.

Locations impacted include...
Crossville, Monterey, Pleasant Hill and Virgin Falls State Natural
Area.

This includes Interstate 40 between mile markers 302 and 314.
