.SYNOPSIS...Far inland areas will continue to cool into Saturday.
The possibility of sprinkles or light rain in the North Bay
Saturday afternoon and potentially into the Bay Area itself
Saturday evening, as the tail end of a weak cold front passes
through. A brief warming trend is then expected next Tuesday and
Wednesday followed by a cooling back to seasonal values.

.DISCUSSION...as of 3:41 AM PDT Saturday...KMUX radar has been
switched to precip mode. Widely scattered showers/sprinkles moved
through the North Bay earlier in the night. KSTS airport did
report some light rain, but nothing more than a trace. No other
automated sensors measured rain. Spotters and the general public
reported a few drops reaching the ground as well. Will keep radar
in precip mode as showers move eastward to the Sierra.
Otherwise, a solid marine layer push once again, but it's hard to
see due to the high clouds passing overhead. For Saturday, cool
onshore flow will continue. Highs today will be in the upper 50s
to near 70 at the coast and 70s to lower 80s inland. Hi-res models
continue to advertise a few showers will be possible this
afternoon across the North Bay. The showers are associated with a
weak cold front that is ontrack to pass through the Bay Area this
afternoon. Forecast will only mention shower chances for the North
Bay. Chances for shower activity south of the Golden Gate are much
less, but it's possible an isolated shower could pass through.
Behind the front chances for precip end and low clouds return
tonight. Rounding out the holiday weekend temperatures will warm
slightly Sunday and Monday, but still remain below seasonal
averages. Night and morning clouds with inland sunshine will
continue each day.
For the week ahead - rather quiet weather overall. A gradual warm
up through midweek followed by a cooldown next weekend. Longer
range forecast also remain on the cooler side with some light
precip possible the first week of June.

.AVIATION...as of 5:24 AM PDT Saturday...For the 12Z TAFs. A mix
of flight rules across TAF sites, ranging from VFR to LIFR, as low
stratus covers a large part of the SF Bay and Monterey Bay areas.
High clouds continue streaming over the area, making it difficult
to track stratus movement on satellite imagery.
Low clouds linger through much of the morning, though terminals
may experience periodic breaks. Cigs lift and scatter by late
morning for most terminals with VFR prevailing through the
afternoon. An approaching trough brings slight chances of light
showers or sprinkles to coastal North Bay and perhaps the SF
Peninsula towards late afternoon and evening, but low to no
impacts to terminals likely, aside from increasing high and mid-
level clouds. Low Cigs return this evening/tonight but may clear
early Sunday morning as cooler, drier air filters in and disrupts
the marine layer.
Vicinity of KSFO...BKN/SCT clouds at IFR/MVFR levels reported at
the terminal and vicinity. Low clouds likely linger through the
morning with periodic breaks possible. VFR forecast after 19z.
Moderate onshore winds becoming lighter overnight. Breezy onshore
winds this afternoon and evening. Weak front passing through the
area this evening will bring MVFR level Cigs, with clearing early
Sunday morning.
KSFO Bridge Approach...Similar to SFO.
Monterey Bay...LIFR level Cigs and BR reported at area terminals.
Cigs lift mid to late morning with VFR conditions this afternoon
with breezy onshore winds. Return of low Cigs this evening/tonight.

.MARINE...as of 03:26 AM PDT Saturday...Gentle winds across most
of the waters this morning, except along the Big Sur coast, where
stronger northwest winds prevail. A weak low pressure system to
the north will bring increasing northwest winds later today and
tonight. Stronger northwest winds expected Sunday with gale force
gusts likely later in the day and at night. Seas will be hazardous
Sunday and Monday with very steep wind waves, reaching 12 to 14
feet in the outer waters. Lighter winds and seas expected by the
