KEY MESSAGES:

- Areas of frost are expected tonight across western WI.

A chilly start to the week with temperatures only in the 40s this
morning. The short term will be dominated by deep mid/upper level
troughing across eastern North America. This will help keep us dry
with cooler than normal temperatures through Wednesday. Highs today
will be stuck in the low to mid 60, and lows tonight dropping into
the lower 40s and upper 30s. Areas of frost are expected tonight,
primarily across portions of western Wisconsin and east central
Minnesota. Tuesday will be a near carbon copy of Monday with high
temperatures in the lower 60s. A sfc high pressure will move into the
region on Tuesday. This will lead to mostly clear skies and lighter
winds Tuesday afternoon compared to Monday.

KEY MESSAGES:

- Widespread frost and/or freeze Tuesday night.

- Very little or no precip chances through the weekend.

High pressure will be centered over the Upper Mississippi Valley
Tuesday night and Wednesday. Calm winds, clear skies, high relative
humidity, and temperatures in the upper 20s to mid 30s will bring
widespread frost across the entire region. Whether this will end the
growing season for most has yet to be seen, but generally expecting
temperatures remaining just above freezing. Frost and freeze
headlines will be needed late Tuesday night.

High pressure will inch eastward all week and induce a light
south southeast flow for most of the period. Temperatures will
moderate back to the low 70s late week. A system will weaken and
stall as it enters the Plains next weekend while the remnants of Ian
impact the southeast. We will be sandwiched between with little
chance for precipitation.

.AVIATION...(For the 18Z TAFS through 18Z Tuesday afternoon)

Scattered/broken stratus deck across eastern MN and western WI today,
but it should lift above VFR conditions this afternoon and dissipate
overnight. Another area of mid-level clouds will develop, and could
bring some rain showers at KSTC, KMSP, KMKT, but did not include any
mention of precip in the TAFS since it will most likely be virga. If
it does rain, it should be light, with VFR conditions.

KMSP...
VFR conditions throughout with northwest winds decreasing this
evening and becoming northeast on Tuesday. An area of mid-level
clouds will develop overnight, and could bring some rain showers at
KMSP, but did not include any mention of precip in the TAFS since it
will most likely be virga. If it does rain, it should be light, with
VFR conditions.
