JEH/88 && .PREV DISCUSSION... /issued 952 PM CDT Sat Mar 19 2022/ NEAR TERM /Now Through Monday/...An upper level shortwave moves through a now open upper trough over the northeastern Conus, and off to the east, with an upper ridge moving over and east of the Mississippi River. Surface high pressure moves east in response, to over the Lower Mississippi River Valley tonight, then the Southeast and Tennessee River Valley Sunday through Sunday night before ending up centered over the Carolina Coast by Monday evening. The cold front stalled southeast of the marine portion of the forecast area moves off, with the residual rainshowers south of the coast moving off also. A cooler drier airmass moves over the forecast area for the rest of the weekend into the coming week, As the surface high moves to the East Coast, onshore flow returns to the Lower Mississippi and Gulf moisture moves inland just west of the forecast area beginning Monday, but the majority of the forecast area remains dry into Monday night. With cool northerly flow in place over the forecast area tonight, temperatures drop to below seasonal norms, with low to mid 40s expected over the majority of the forecast area (near 50 along the coast). Sunday, with a dry airmass in place and the upper ridge approaching the forecast area from the west, temperatures will rebound to a bit above seasonal norms. Low to mid 70s are expected. Sunday night, another cool night is in store, with temperatures again dropping into the low to mid 40s over most of the forecast area. GALLIVER TO INCLUDE INTENSITY RATING OF THE
TORNADO TO EF1. A TORNADO TOUCHED DOWN JUST
WEST OF THE INTERSECTION OF LOG LAKE ROAD
AND SUNDANCE WAY. THE TORNADO DAMAGED THE
ROOF OF A HOUSE WHERE NUMEROUS SHINGLES WERE
REMOVED DOWN TO THE TAR PAPER. IN ADDITION,
A MANUFACTURED HOME ADJACENT TO THE HOUSE
WAS DESTROYED. NUMEROUS TREES WERE SNAPPED
AND SEVERAL TREES WERE UPROOTED. THE TORNADO
PROCEEDED EAST ACROSS LOG LAKE ROAD AND
DAMAGED THE ROOF OF A MANUFACTURED HOME AS
WELL AS SNAPPED AND TWISTED ADDITIONAL
TREES. A COUPLE TREES WERE ALSO UPROOTED.
THE TORNADO CONTINUED ALONG AND CROSSED
SUNDANCE WAY CUTOFF ROAD WHERE SEVERAL MORE
TREES WERE SNAPPED AND UPROOTED. FROM THERE,
THE TORNADO PROGRESSED NORTHEAST AND HIT A
HOME, RIPPING OFF A PORTION OF THE ROOF TO
INCLUDE THE DECKING UNDERNEATH. THIS WAS
THROWN ROUGHLY 50 YARDS AWAY INTO THE FRONT
YARD AND INTO TREES. SEVERAL LARGE TREES
WERE ALSO SNAPPED NEAR THE BASE AND TWISTED.
A FEW MORE WERE UPROOTED AS WELL. THE
TORNADO THEN LIFTED JUST BEYOND THIS
PROPERTY. OVERALL, THE MAXIMUM WIDTH OF THE
TORNADO REACHED 50 YARDS WITH A PATH LENGTH
OF ABOUT 1.5 MILES.
