Today through Tuesday night:
Dry air across eastern Wisconsin continues to fight off the
advancing snowfall early this morning. As the low dives southeast,
the window for snowfall across the eastern portions of our CWA
are quickly closing. The light powdery snowfall continues across
far southwestern Wisconsin early this morning. Any additional
accumulations of snow this morning are expected to be little to
none for much of the area as the low pressure system begins to
exit the Great Lakes Region. Looking at radar you can start to see
the northern extent of the snowfall pivoting south, where the
better mid level support is with great frontogenesis and WAA. As
this system quickly exits this morning any snowfall is expected to
come to an end shortly after sunrise.
Temperatures continue to warm today and Tuesday with high
temperatures expected to be in the teens today. High pressure
will quickly build in behind this clipper system bringing dry
weather and light winds through Tuesday. As the high pressure
exits winds will shift to southerly and temperatures will continue
to increase as we head into mid week.

Wednesday through Sunday:
The warming temperature trend looks to continue through the end
of the week. Uncertainty does still remain on exactly how warm
temperatures will become, with some guidance suggesting highs
climbing into the 50s. Given this warmer temperature trend and
the snowpack that exists, there will be a potential for some fog
to develop Wednesday and Thursday. Will have to keep an eye on
temps, dewpoints, and how much the snowpack is melting as this
could lead to some thick fog at times.
Our next chance for some precipitation looks to be Thursday as the
upper level steering flow has the Midwest sandwiched between a
ridge in the east and trough to the west. This upper level flow
is expected to advect a mid level shortwave across the Midwest
and continue the persistent WAA with the southerly winds.
Guidance does suggest another trough to develop and deepen as is
approaches the Great Lakes Region from Canada, which keeps POPs
in for much of the weekend. There is some uncertainty on the
timing and duration of these POPs as there could be some phasing
issues with the trough developing to the north and the trough over
the western CONUS gradually moving eastward so will have to keep
an eye on this. Regardless of how the precipitation shakes out
there temperatures are expected to be warm so this late week
precipitation will likely be rain. Make sure to keep up with this
late week system as there is still plenty of time for things to
change given the uncertainties.

central Wisconsin this morning with some pockets of 1500 to 2500

conditions are expected for all of southern Wisconsin by later
this evening.

Low pressure in Iowa this morning will track southeast toward the
western Ohio River Valley today. As this low moves south of the
Lake, high pressure will build into the Plains and Midwest. Winds
are expected to be light and moderate during this time before
turning southwesterly as the high slides southeast by Tuesday.
Southerly winds are expected to increase as the pressure gradient
tightens again Tuesday afternoon into Wednesday, gale force gusts
will be possible thus a Gale Watch is in effect during this time.
Breezy southerly wind are expected to persist through the end of
the week.
