* WHEN...From Monday morning through Monday evening.

* IMPACTS...Rip currents can sweep even the best swimmers away 
  from shore into deeper water. Strong longshore currents will 
  create dangerous swimming conditions.

* ADDITIONAL DETAILS...The most likely time for strong rip
  currents to occur is a couple hours either side of low tide,
  which will occur around 3:30 PM Monday.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

Inexperienced swimmers should remain out of the water due to
dangerous surf conditions.

Life-threatening rip currents. If caught in a rip current, remain
calm. Swim in a direction following the shoreline. If tired,
float or tread water until out of the rip current. If unable to

High pressure will weaken over the area tonight. A complex low
pressure system will impact the area Monday. lifting north
Monday evening. High pressure builds back over the area Tuesday
through late week.

.NEAR TERM /Through Tonight/...
As of 730 PM Sun...No big changes needed with eve update.

Prev disc... As of 3 PM Sunday...High pressure building in from
the north will weaken over the area tonight, as low pressure
begins to strengthen over Alabama along a stalled front.
Increasing WAA overnight with low level flow becoming ENE.
Precip chances increasing across the SW forecast area towards
sunrise. Precip may take awhile overnight to overcome dry air in
the mid levels. Expect to see a non-diurnal temp curve
overnight with lows 48-55 deg early, then increasing a bit
towards sunrise, esp along the coast.

.SHORT TERM /MONDAY/...
As of 3 PM Sunday...Active day in store will several concerns
for the forecast area. Strengthening low pressure will track
along or near Hwy 17 Mon mid day, lifting north of the area Mon
eve and Mon night. Late season cold air dam will set up with
strengthening low pressure along the stalled frontal boundary
south of the area. An amplifying upper trough will dig southeast
towards the Carolinas, aiding in surface low cyclogenesis.

Strong E/SE winds will develop along the coast by mid Mon
morning, with gusts 45-50 mph for Hatteras/Ocracoke Islands and
Eastern Carteret. Will issue Wind Advisory.

Moderate to heavy rain may result in minor localized flooding
with storm total QPF amts 1-2" with locally higher amts. Highest
amts likely east of the low track.

Next up is the severe weather potential. SPC
continues to outlook the immediate coast in a Marginal Risk for
severe wx. Weak instability may develop Mon afternoon in the
warm sector and combined with the favorable deep layer shear may
support organized convection for a few hours during afternoon
and early eve. Veering low level kinematics continue to yield
some impressive helicity values 300-500 m2/s2 along the
immediate coast. Best chances for strong to severe storms would
be between 2-8 PM east of Hwy 17, with potential for damaging
winds and/or a tornado.

info see Tides/CF section below.

Given damming setup, will continue cooler temps inland with
highs in the upper 50s to low 60s and mid/upper 60s along the
coast.

.LONG TERM /MONDAY NIGHT THROUGH SUNDAY/...
As of 500 AM Sunday...High pressure builds in with drier
weather by Tuesday through late week into next weekend.

Tuesday through Saturday...Upper trough will continue to
migrate east through New England states and into the North
Atlantic by Thursday, followed by broad ridging aloft building
across the Southeastern states Friday through the weekend. At
the surface, high pressure builds south from the Mid-Atlantic
states on Wednesday and off the coast by Thursday, then the
ridge axis shifts offshore of the Carolinas leading to a warming
trend through the extended period with no precipitation
expected. Temps warm into the 80s for inland locations by Friday
and Saturday, with 70s along the coast.

SHORT TERM /through Monday/...
As of 3 PM Sunday...Complex low pressure system will impact the
region Monday, moving north of the area Monday evening and
night. Pred VFR conditions expected through 06z. Cigs will grad
lower late tonight and early Monday morning, becoming MVFR
between 10-13z, then IFR 13-15z. Cigs will be grad improving Mon
eve, becoming VFR by 06z. Widespread moderate to heavy rain and
isolated thunderstorms expected, tapering off from SW to NE Mon
eve. Easterly wind gusts 20-25 kt late tonight and Mon.

LONG TERM /Tuesday through Friday/...
As of 455 AM Sunday...High pressure returns for Tuesday
improving TAF conditions to VFR through late week.

SHORT TERM /through Monday night/...
As of 3 PM Sunday...Latest obs show NE winds 15-25 kt with seas
5-8 ft. Low pressure will strengthen along the stalled front to
the south, and will track just inland Monday, lifting north of
the waters Mon eve and Mon night. ENE winds will increase to
20-25 kt tonight, then E/SE 20-30 with gusts 35-40 kt Seas 5-8
ft will build to 6-9 ft Mon morning, then peak at 7-13 ft Mon
afternoon. Gales continue for the Pamlico Sound and coastal
waters south of Oregon Inlet. Upgraded to Gales for the northern
waters. SCAs continue for the western rivers and northern
sounds/river, though could see occasional gusts to 35 kt.

LONG TERM /Tuesday through Friday/...
As of 515 AM Sunday...SCA conditions may persist for southern
and central waters through Tuesday with a pinched pressure
gradient bringing easterly winds of 15-20 kt courtesy of wedging
high pressure, as well as approaching low pressure from the
south and west. This will help keep seas at 5-8 feet for
offshore waters south of Oregon Inlet. Winds and seas subside by
late Tuesday as high pressure builds over the waters from the
west, with decent to marginal boating conditions expected
through Thursday.

.TIDES/COASTAL FLOODING...
As of 355 PM Sunday...Minor water level rises (1-2 ft agl) are
expected for low lying areas adjacent to the Crystal coast,
Neuse, Pamlico/Pungo Rivers and adjacent waterways Monday with
strong east/southeast winds. Issued CF advisory. Rough surf
expected with minor beach erosion possible for the beaches north
of Cape Lookout. Issued High Surf Adv. Minor, rapid, water
level rises will be possible for soundside Hatteras Island
Monday evening on the backside of the low as the flow goes WSW.
Will hold off on advisory at this time.
