...FLASH FLOOD WARNING REMAINS IN EFFECT UNTIL 1015 PM CDT THIS 
EVENING FOR NORTHEASTERN SCURRY COUNTY...

At 756 PM CDT, Doppler radar indicated thunderstorms producing heavy 
rain across the warned area. Between 1 and 2.5 inches of rain have 
fallen. Flash flooding is ongoing or expected to begin shortly.

HAZARD...Flash flooding caused by thunderstorms.

SOURCE...Radar.

IMPACT...Flash flooding of small creeks and streams, urban areas,
         highways, streets and underpasses as well as other poor
         drainage and low-lying areas.

Some locations that will experience flash flooding include...
  Snyder.

This includes the following streams and drainages...
  South Fork Deep Creek, Clear Fork, Bluff Creek and Deep Creek.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

Turn around, don't drown when encountering flooded roads. Most flood 
deaths occur in vehicles.

Be aware of your surroundings and do not drive on flooded roads.

In hilly terrain there are hundreds of low water crossings which are 
potentially dangerous in heavy rain. Do not attempt to cross flooded 
roads. Find an alternate route.

Please report observed flooding to local emergency services or law 
enforcement and request they pass this information to the National 
Weather Service when you can do so safely.

An upper ridge is over the western half of the country with West
Texas and Southeast New Mexico on the western edge of an upper
trough. The upper pattern will be fairly similar on Saturday.
Abundant moisture and lift continue across the area which is
allowing for more rain to develop. Rain with isolated thunder is
expected to continue to develop this afternoon into this evening.
Portions of the area south of the Pecos River are in a slight risk
of excessive rainfall for today and a Flood Watch is in effect for
much of the area from the Pecos River to the Rio Grande. High
temperatures today will mostly be in the 70s and 80s but will likely
be warmer than yesterday across the Permian Basin and Southeast New
Mexico. Low temperatures tonight will mostly be in the 60s and 70s.
Rain coverage and amounts are expected to decrease during the
overnight period so did not extend the Flood Watch. Rain coverage
and amounts will likely increase again on Saturday so another Flood
Watch may be needed for tomorrow. High temperatures Saturday will be
similar to today or a degree or two warmer. Low temperatures
tomorrow night will mostly be in the 60s.

.LONG TERM...

Upper ridge centered over the Great Basin Sunday as a trough extends
from the Great Lakes SW down the Mississippi River Valley into
Central TX.  This trough splits the ridge over the west from the
high pressure center over the Atlantic.  The trough will remain in
place next several days before developing into a closed low over the
SE late in the week.

Temperatures will be below normal Sunday through next week with
highs mainly in the 80s. Lows in the 60s.  May see a cold front move
down into the area late next week.

Rain chances still pretty high Sunday across the southern counties
but then decrease significantly next week.  Have been watching
Tropical Storm Javier off the Pacific coast of Mexico as a potential
rain producer for the region but models keep it west of Baja then
take it out to sea.  Next week another tropical system follows the
same track as Javier but looks not to come this way either.

VFR conditions are expected through the TAF period. Showers and a
few thunderstorms have developed around MAF and FST and this may
impact the those terminals this evening. Winds remain primarily
easterly to southeasterly for all through the period. FST and CNM
may briefly see lowered ceilings or light fog tomorrow morning,
but confidence is too low to include at this time. Scattered
showers with isolated thunder will again be possible during the
afternoon tomorrow.

southwest Texas and western Texas.

.DAY ONE...This afternoon and tonight.

Heavy showers and thunderstorms are likely this afternoon and tonight
mainly south of the Pecos River. A Flood Watch is in effect through
this evening along and south of a Valentine to Fort Stockton line.

.DAYS TWO THROUGH SEVEN...Saturday through Thursday.

Thunderstorms are likely again Saturday from the Davis Mountains
southward. Locally heavy rain will be the main concern.
