...FLASH FLOOD WARNING REMAINS IN EFFECT UNTIL 615 PM CDT THIS 
EVENING FOR SOUTHEASTERN JEFF DAVIS AND SOUTH CENTRAL REEVES 
COUNTIES...

At 454 PM CDT, Doppler radar indicated thunderstorms producing heavy 
rain across the warned area. Between 2 and 2.5 inches of rain have 
fallen. Flash flooding is ongoing or expected to begin shortly.

HAZARD...Flash flooding caused by thunderstorms.

SOURCE...Radar.

IMPACT...Flash flooding of small creeks and streams, urban areas,
         highways, streets and underpasses as well as other poor
         drainage and low-lying areas.

Some locations that will experience flash flooding include...
  Fort Davis, Davis Mountains State Park, McDonald Observatory, Star 
  Mountain, Buffalo Trail Scout Camp, Black Mountain, Fort Davis 
  National Historical Site and Indian Lodge.

This includes the following streams and drainages...
  Horse Thief Creek, Cienega Creek, Sandia Creek, Cherry Creek, Big 
  Aguja Canyon, North Fork Cienega Creek, Limpia Creek, Madera 
  Canyon, Cook Creek, Horse Thief Canyon, Barrilla Draw and Musquiz 
  Creek.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

Turn around, don't drown when encountering flooded roads. Most flood 
deaths occur in vehicles.

Please report observed flooding to local emergency services or law 
enforcement and request they pass this information to the National 
Weather Service when you can do so safely.

Radar is showing isolated storms are starting in the Davis Mountains
however the influence of the encroaching upper level high is being
felt with less area coverage that should remain farther west. The
moves even closer tomorrow, increasing subsidence enough that
temperatures edge up into the lower portion of Heat Advisory
criteria. Therefore will go ahead and issue the advisory now for
Monday and be generous with stretching it to some of the more
borderline counties that may only approach 105F. In addition, there
will be less convection than today with only a few isolated showers
and storms expected.

.LONG TERM...
(Tuesday through  Saturday)

An upper ridge will be centered over the Four Corners region on
Tuesday and will extend over West Texas and Southeast New Mexico. A
cold front will begin to move into West Texas and Southeast New
Mexico on Tuesday but will only result in high temperatures being
about a few degrees cooler from the previous day across most
locations. There is a slight chance of showers and thunderstorms
Tuesday afternoon from the Davis Mountains to the Big Bend.
Temperatures will continue to cool on Wednesday but highs will still
be above normal. Rain and storm chances will again be present
Wednesday afternoon as the front interacts with the higher terrain.
Rain and storm chances will likely decrease on Thursday with
temperatures around the same or warming a degree or two from the
previous day. Similar temperatures are expected on Friday with the
upper ridge staying over the region. A slight warm up is expected
for Saturday and will continue into next Sunday with dry conditions.

This Hazardous Weather Outlook is for southeast New Mexico,
southwest Texas and western Texas.

.DAY ONE...This afternoon and tonight.

Scattered thunderstorms will be possible along and south of the
Pecos River this afternoon and evening. Any storms that develop will
be capable of producing frequent lightning, small hail, gusty winds,
and brief, heavy rainfall.

A Heat Advisory is in effect for the Low Rolling Plains and Lower
Trans Pecos including the Rio Grande this afternoon and early
evening for temperatures between 105 to 110 degrees.

.DAYS TWO THROUGH SEVEN...Monday through Saturday.

A Heat Advisory is in effect Monday afternoon and early evening for
most of the Permian Basin, the Eddy County plains, southern Lea
County, from eastern Culberson County to Terrell County, and southern
Brewster County for temperatures between 105 to 111 degrees.

...A strong thunderstorm will impact portions of south central Jeff
Davis County through 430 PM CDT...

At 351 PM CDT, Doppler radar was tracking a strong thunderstorm over
Davis Mountains State Park, or near Fort Davis, moving southwest at
10 mph.

HAZARD...Wind gusts up to 50 mph and half inch hail.

SOURCE...Radar indicated.

IMPACT...Gusty winds could knock down tree limbs and blow around
         unsecured objects. Minor damage to outdoor objects is
         possible.

Locations impacted include...
Fort Davis, McDonald Observatory, Davis Mountains State Park, Indian
Lodge and Fort Davis National Historical Site.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

If outdoors, consider seeking shelter inside a building.

Torrential rainfall is also occurring with this storm and may lead to
localized flooding. Do not drive your vehicle through flooded
roadways.

Frequent cloud to ground lightning is occurring with this storm.
Lightning can strike 10 miles away from a thunderstorm. Seek a safe
shelter inside a building or vehicle.
