.SYNOPSIS...
A frontal boundary will stall north of the region. A typical
weather pattern is expected in the next few days, with passing
showers reaching the islands. Hazardous marine and coastal
conditions are anticipated by Sunday into early in the week as a
northerly swell invades the local waters.

.SHORT TERM...Tonight through Monday...
A frontal boundary just north of the islands will maintain a light
wind flow coming out of the east. During the afternoon hours,
local effects, light winds and moisture associated with this
feature fueled some showers over the interior and northern half of
Puerto Rico. This activity could linger into the early evening
hours over the interior and northwestern Puerto Rico, but
conditions should improve as the night progresses. By Sunday, the
surface high pressure north of the islands recovers, and as a
result, the low level steering flow will increase, still coming
out of the east at 10 to 15 knots. Recent satellite imagery and
the latest GFS run have another area of enhanced moisture moving
from the east on Sunday, with precipitable water values around 1.4
inches. As a result, the typical advective pattern, with showers
moving over eastern Puerto Rico and the U.S. Virgin Islands can
be anticipated. In the afternoon, although some showers are still
expected to develop, especially over the interior and northwestern
Puerto Rico, dry air at the mid-levels should generally inhibit
strong activity.

By Monday, as the high pressure migrates toward the east, the wind
flow will shift from the east-southeast. The trade-wind cap
inversion will be stronger at 850 mb and precipitable water values
will drop to around 1.25 inches. Therefore, rainfall activity is
expected to be limited across the area.

.LONG TERM...Tuesday through Sunday.../from prev discussion/

A frontal boundary is expected to stall north of the area early in
the cycle while dissipates. As this feature dissipates, a mid level
ridge will build in from the south. The ridge aloft is then expected
to hold across the central and east Caribbean through at least the
end of the forecast cycle. At lower levels, a surface high north of
the area will yield moderate to fresh easterly winds Wednesday
through Friday. In response to the frontal boundary and associated
shearline approaching the region...moisture advection is
anticipated, suggesting a better chance for frequent passing showers
across east and north coastal areas as well as some afternoon
convection across west Puerto Rico Tue-Thu. Nevertheless, weather
condition will gradually improve and return to a more seasonal and
drier pattern by the end of the workweek with showers, if any,
mainly across coastal areas of northern and eastern Puerto Rico as
well as the US Virgin Islands as the result of the building
ridge.

Maximum temperatures will continue to range from the mid 80s
across coastal areas to the low 70s across the higher elevations.

.AVIATION...
VCSH will impact TJSJ and TJBQ through 16/00Z, which could result
in brief MVFR conditions due to reduced VIS and low ceilings.
Otherwise, mainly VFR conditions are expected to prevail through
the forecast period. Light winds are expected tonight, coming out
of the east at less than 6 knots. The wind flow will continue from
the east after 12Z, but with winds picking up at 10 to 14 knots.

.MARINE...
Offshore Atlantic buoy 41046 show a northwesterly well of 11 feet
at 10 seconds. Part of this energy should invade the local waters
tomorrow, increasing seas 5 to 7 feet. As a result, small craft
advisories will be initiated for the offshore and nearshore
Atlantic waters through late Monday.

Hazardous coastal conditions are also expected for the north, west
and east coast of the islands. High rip current risk will be in
effect for these areas, and a High Surf Advisory was required for
the north coast of Puerto Rico for tomorrow and Monday.

.Corrientes Marinas...Existe un riesgo moderado de corrientes marinas
para las playas del norte de Puerto Rico, de Rincon a Ceiba, el norte y este
de Vieques y todo Culebra hoy. El riesgo se tornara alto esta noche para las
playas del norte central y la zona metropolitana de San Juan y Bayamon.
