.UPDATE...
Another sunny day has prevailed across Puerto Rico. Satellite
imagery does show a small patch of moisture crossing the area, and
that resulted in a few showers, mainly over the local waters. A
frontal system is now located about 200 miles north of the
islands. Fragments from this feature may reach the local area at
times, causing a slight increase in showers, mainly for
northeastern Puerto Rico and USVI. Temperatures are running
seasonal, with minimum in the mountain now in the low 60s and even
the upper 50s. At coastal areas, the lows are still running in
the mid and upper 70s.

.AVIATION...
VFR conditions expected to prevail through the forecast period.
However, SHRA may develop after 17Z across the western Cordillera
Central, causing mountain obscuration. No major impacts to
operations are expected. TJSJ 28/12Z sounding has FL050 winds out
of the east at 12 to 17 knots. Winds should slow down below 10
knots after 22Z.

.MARINE...
Recent buoy observations are already detecting the northerly
swell, with wave periods of 12-13 seconds. Seas are 2 to 4 feet in
the nearshore buoys. This swell should cause seas to increase up
to 7 feet this evening and lasting through Wednesday, and small
craft advisories are in effect for the offshore Atlantic.

For the beaches, the risk of rip currents is high for the north-
facing areas of Puerto Rico, Culebra and St. Thomas.

.SYNOPSIS...

Fair weather conditions should prevail today, with limited
passing shower activity at times. Expect an increase in moisture
tonight as fragments of a front begin to reach the islands.
Still, a seasonal weather pattern will persist throughout the
workweek. A long-period northeasterly swell will deteriorate
marine and coastal conditions from today through at least
Wednesday.

.SHORT TERM...Today through Wednesday...

Mostly fair weather is expected through the local area today. There
are small patches of moisture that could contribute to isolated to
scattered shower activity, but it would be mostly brief. Sea breeze
convergence and diurnal heating may cause scattered shower
development across western PR in the afternoon.

A stationary front to the north of the local islands is expected to
start fragmenting late tonight, as a surface high pressure across
the west central Atlantic strengthens and causes NE winds to the
local area. This in turn will bring patches of moisture from late
tonight into Tuesday, increasing the passing shower activity,
affecting mainly northern and eastern PR as well as the USVI. During
the day on Tuesday, scattered showers are forecast across the
interior sections of PR, as a patch of moisture moves over the
island under the NE wind flow. Another patch of moisture will move
in on Wednesday, which will cause scattered showers across the USVI,
as well as most of PR, under the persistent NE wind flow. Once
again, the shower activity is expected to be generally brief over
any one area, so the rainfall accumulation is not expected to cause
significant flooding.

The main threat through the period is the arrival of a northerly
long-period swell that could create dangerous breaking waves
resulting in life-threatening rip currents along the Atlantic
Coastline of Puerto Rico and the U.S. Virgin Islands starting this
evening onward.

.LONG TERM...Thursday through Tuesday...

The inherited long-term forecast remains on track, with fair
weather conditions and seasonal weather patterns prevailing for
most of the period. Expect ridging and dry air to dominate the
area through at least Sunday, limiting the potential for moderate
and heavy rainfall to occur. Nevertheless, patches of moist air,
with slightly below normal to normal precipitable water values,
will still filter into the local islands from time to time. The
showers will be across the northeastern quadrant of Puerto Rico
and the U.S. Virgin Islands during the morning hours and southwestern
Puerto Rico in the afternoon. The wind flow is still expected to
remain from the northeast through the end of the period. At this
time, models suggest an increase in moisture content on Monday as
a frontal boundary reaches the area.Latest model guidance shows up
to 1.5 inches of rain on Monday. On Tuesday, expect the typical
weather pattern to return.

.AVIATION...VFR conditions will prevail throughout the forecast
period. However, brief -SHRA/SHRA will affect TJSJ/IST/ISX. SHRA
will develop over the Cordillera Central in the afternoon, btwn
28/17-22z, possibly causing VCSH at TJPS and TJBQ. Winds will be
calm to light/VRB through 28/13z, thereafter, from the ENE at
10-15 kt with occasional gusts and sea breeze variations.

.MARINE...Moderate to locally fresh easterly winds will promote
moderate chop conditions for most local waters and passages.
Expect seas up to 6 feet across the Atlantic waters and seas of 5
feet or less elsewhere. A long-period northerly swell will
continue to deteriorate marine and coastal conditions today
through at least Wednesday.There is a high risk of rip currents
for the northern beaches of Puerto Rico, the beaches of Culebra
and St. Thomas. Life- threatening rip currents often occur in the
vicinity of groins, jetties, reefs, and piers.

.Viento...Condiciones ventosas a traves de las aguas mar afuera del Caribe.

.Condiciones Maritimas...Oleaje igual o mayor de 7 pies a traves de las aguas
mar afuera del Atlantico. Condiciones peligrosas para los operadores de
embarcaciones pequenas.

.Corrientes Marinas...Corrientes marinas amenazantes a la vida son
posibles a traves de St. Thomas donde el riesgo de corrientes marinas
es alto comenzando esta noche. Un riesgo moderado de corrientes marinas a
atraves de las Islas Virgenes.

.DIAS DOS A SIETE...martes a domingo

Las condiciones maritimas se deterioraran temprano en la semana
debido a la llegada de una marejada del norte a las aguas del
Atlantico. El riesgo de corrientes marinas se tornara alto del lunes
en adelante a lo largo del area costera del Atlantico.

No se requiere activacion de observadores. Favor de pasar cualquier
informacion sobre inundaciones, vientos, oleaje, y corrientes marinas
a el Servicio Nacional de Meteorologia en San Juan.
