* WHAT...For the Coastal Flood Advisory, up to one half foot of
  inundation above ground level expected in low-lying areas near
  shorelines and tidal waterways. For the Beach Hazards Statement,
  Strong north to south longshore current expected.

* WHERE...Coastal Pender County.

* WHEN...For the Coastal Flood Advisory, from 9 AM this morning 
  to noon EDT today. For the Beach Hazards Statement, through 
  this evening.

* IMPACTS...Low-lying roads and locations along the Intracoastal 
  Waterway and adjacent tidal creeks may observe minor coastal 
  flooding. Check with local officials for any road closures or 
  impacts. Longshore currents can sweep swimmers and surfers 
  into rip currents, piers, jetties, and other hazardous areas. 
  It may sweep swimmers off their feet, making it difficult to 
  return to shore.

.SYNOPSIS...
Temperatures will be near normal as modest to strong high
pressure fills in over the region through the remainder of the
week. Unsettled weather will affect the area into early next
week.

&&

.UPDATE...
No significant changes to the near term forecast with the
evening update. The challenge is the lower clouds but the trend
of lowering coverage followed by an increase late seems well
supported in guidance and is integrated into the forecast.

&&

.NEAR TERM /THROUGH FRIDAY/...
High pressure will continue to build
down from the north through Friday as the center shifts east from
the Great Lakes across to the New England coast by late Fri. At the
same time, a tropical wave/low will track north over the Atlantic
waters well east. This will maintain a tightened gradient flow and
gusty N-NE winds through the period. Weak isentropic lift and
onshore flow in the low levels will produce an increase in moisture
tonight into Fri. Expect area of low clouds to diminish over eastern
portion of area as it shifts farther south, but expect more clouds
across the area overnight leaving a fair amount of cloud cover
leading into Fri. May see enough moisture and lift to produce some
spotty pcp, mainly along the coast into Fri, but should be dry
enough near the sfc to maintain a dry forecast overall.

Cool northerly flow will continue with temps running just below
normal for highs and slightly above for lows with increased clouds
and moisture overnight. Readings should be near 50 inland and 55 to
60 closer to the coast tonight and then 65 to 70 most places on
Fri.

.SHORT TERM /FRIDAY NIGHT THROUGH SATURDAY NIGHT/...
High pressure will ridge into the area from the north during
this period, resulting in mainly fair weather. It is possible we
could see a few showers move in off the ocean and affect the
coastal counties though. Lows each night will be in the low to
mid 50s with highs Saturday in the upper 60s to lower 70s.

.LONG TERM /SUNDAY THROUGH THURSDAY/...
High pressure will continue to hold into early Monday before a
low moving north from the Gulf Coast turns winds southerly on
Monday. A warm front moving northward Sunday night into Monday
followed by a cold front Monday night represents our best
chance for rain in this period but pops are generally limited to
slight chance or chance as best forcing passes west and north
of the area. The front Monday night will be cold in name only as
temperatures through the period will be at or above normal
levels for this time of year.

.AVIATION /00Z FRIDAY THROUGH TUESDAY/...
Persistent low clouds will continue to torment the area through
the TAF period especially along the coast. It appears the
trends established this morning with the NE flow should hold
through the period. Overall expect VFR initially with a lowering

Through Friday:
Small Craft Advisory conditions will continue as
high pressure builds into the area from the north, maintaining
northerly winds 15 to 25 kts with gusts up to 30 kts and seas
generally in the 4 to 6 ft range through Friday.

Friday night Through Tuesday:
SCA remains in effect through Sunday morning for NE winds of 15
to 20 KT, perhaps 25 KT at times, into Saturday night before
diminishing to 10 to 15 KT Sunday. Sunday night winds will fall
to 10 KT or less before becoming southerly on Monday. A turn to
the west, then north is on tap for Tuesday as a cold front moves
through. Seas of 3 to 6 FT will persist Friday night into Sunday
morning before subsiding to 2 to 4 FT for Monday and Tuesday.
