.SYNOPSIS...
Strong westerly winds will develop this afternoon and persist
into tonight. A cooling trend is expected this afternoon and
Monday. By Monday afternoon, high temperatures will be around five
degrees below normal for this time of year. Damaging wind gusts
are possible in the Mojave Desert Slopes Monday afternoon into
Monday night. A warming trend is expected Tuesday and Wednesday.

.DISCUSSION...
A trough of low pressure will move eastward over Northern
California this afternoon into tonight. Strong, gusty westerly
winds will develop this afternoon and persist into tonight. A Wind
Advisory is in effect for the Mojave Desert Slopes, starting at 3
PM PDT this afternoon due to west wind gusts near 55 mph. A few
light showers are possible in the Sierra Nevada near Yosemite
National Park this afternoon and this evening. There may be some
upslope, light precipitation in the Kern County mountains tonight.
A cyclone aloft will move southward, just off the coast of Western
Canada Monday. This upper-level area of low pressure will make
landfall over the Pacific Northwest Monday night. Damaging wind
gusts are conceivable in the Mojave Desert Slopes Monday afternoon
into Monday night. High temperature in the San Joaquin Valley
Monday afternoon will be in the mid to upper 80s, which is about
five degrees below their typical values of the middle of June.

lower for select locations in the San Joaquin Valley on Monday,
June 13th, 2022:

A ridge of high pressure will move eastward through the Eastern
Pacific Ocean Tuesday. This ridge of high pressure will progress
eastward across the Western United States Tuesday night through
Thursday. A warming trend is anticipated Tuesday and Wednesday.
High temperatures Tuesday afternoon will be around five degrees
warmer than Monday afternoon. Maximum temperatures Wednesday
afternoon and Thursday afternoon will be seven to nine degrees
above normal for this time of year. Triple digit heat is possible
in parts of the San Joaquin Valley Wednesday afternoon and
Thursday afternoon. A trough of low pressure will move eastward
through the Eastern Pacific Ocean Thursday night. This trough of
low pressure will slowly progress eastward over California Friday
and Saturday. A cooling trend is expected Friday and Saturday. By
Saturday afternoon, high temperatures will be seven to nine
degrees below their typical values of the latter half of June.
Strong, gusty winds are possible in the Kern County desert Friday
afternoon and Saturday afternoon.

.AVIATION...
Westerly wind gusts near 45 knots are expected in the Mojave
Desert Slopes, staring at 20z this afternoon. West to northwest
wind gusts near 25 knots are likely in the San Joaquin Valley this
afternoon into tonight. Mountain obscurations are conceivable in
the vicinity of Yosemite National Park this afternoon and this
evening. Otherwise, VFR conditions will prevail.
