.SYNOPSIS...A gradual warming trend will kick off today for interior
areas, while mostly seasonal conditions persist at the coast. Areas
of smoke will persist inland and continue to impact high
temperatures in the vicinity of wildfires.

.DISCUSSION...A mid to upper-level low will slowly trek to the north
through the rest of the work week and move over southern British
Columbia early this weekend. Ridging over the Four Corners will
gradually nudge westward and afternoon high temperatures will be on
the increase starting today. Shortwave troughing is forecast to
persist offshore this weekend as ridging continues to build
westward. Clusters keep shortwave troughing around through Monday
and suggest that ridging will really build westward starting
Tuesday. Temperatures will increase further and some triple digits
may very well return to portions of Northwest California as a
result. Some monsoonal moisture may also surge back into the
region after Monday should this scenario play out. Otherwise,
smoke will continue to modulate high temperatures in the vicinity
of active wildfires.

.AVIATION...Coastal stratus have developed and expanded across the
coastal plain and along the Eel Delta River overnight. LIFR ceilings
and visibility in fog have been impacting KCEC, while mainly IFR
ceiling at KACV is observed this morning. Low ceilings will mostly
burn off by late morning/early afternoon with the daytime heating
and mixing. Stratus are expected to redevelop during the evening,
and eventually expanded across the North Coast and inland.
Meanwhile, prevailing VFR conditions are expected at KUKI. Winds
will remain light from WNW at 10 kts or less, shifting to light S
winds later in the evening.

.MARINE...Northerly winds have developed across the waters overnight
and is expected to increase in speed through the end of the week.
Moderate breezes will develop S of Cape Mendocino this morning, and
increase to fresh to strong breezes on Friday. Northerly winds will
strengthen through the weekend. Short period seas will build late in
the weekend and into early next week. Short period seas will build
above 6 feet across the outer waters on Sunday and continue to build
into early next week.

.COASTAL FLOODING...Higher astronomical tides will continue
tonight. Tides are forecast to be at 8.18 feet at the North Spit
tide gauge close to midnight hours. Tidal anomalies should be
between 0.6 to 0.7 feet. North Spit will likely reaches 8.8 feet
or so at around 12AM night's high tides. Minor coastal flooding
around King Salmon and Jackson Ranch Road in the Arcata Bottoms
will be likely during late in the evening through midnight. A
Coastal Flooding Advisory will be in effect from 11PM through 1AM
tonight.
