...COASTAL FLOOD STATEMENT IN EFFECT LATE TONIGHT...
* WHAT...Up to one half foot of inundation above ground level
expected in low-lying areas near shorelines and tidal
waterways (3.4 to 12.8 feet Mean Lower Low Water).
* WHERE...Eastern Essex MA, Suffolk MA, Eastern Norfolk MA,
Eastern Plymouth MA, Barnstable MA and Nantucket MA Counties.
* WHEN...From 11 pm this evening until 3 am Saturday morning when
another very high astronomical tide occurs.
* IMPACTS...Splashover and very minor coastal flooding is
expected along the North Shore from Gloucester to Newburyport.
Wave action will likely cause some washover onto coastal roads
around the time of high tide.
PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...
Do not drive through flooded roadways.

Generally dry and warm weather is on tap for today and Saturday, but with comfortable humidity levels for this time of year. Then increasing heat and humidity beginning Sunday and continuing into most of next week, possibly peaking around Wednesday or Thursday. Best chance for thunderstorms will be next week, around Monday and possible again Wed/Thu. Otherwise, mainly dry weather prevails. && .NEAR TERM /THROUGH TODAY/... 320 AM Update... * Sunny & Warm today but with very comfortable humidity Localized patchy ground fog mainly across southeast New England will quickly burn off after sunrise. Otherwise, large high pressure will build in from the west today bringing dry and warm weather. Plenty of sunshine is on tap with high temps climbing into the middle to upper 80s across most locations, but it will be a few degrees cooler along portions of the immediate coast with sea breezes developing. However, the airmass behind yesterday/s cold front is quite dry for this time of year. So despite it being quite warm today, humidity levels will be very comfortable for outdoor activities. && .SHORT TERM /TONIGHT THROUGH 6 PM SATURDAY/... Highlights... * Dry and very pleasant tonight with comfortable temps * Partly sunny/Warm Sat with a low risk a brief spot shower Details... Tonight... Large high pressure slowly moves east of the region tonight. However, it will remain in control of our weather keeping us dry with calm-light southwest winds. Low temps should bottom out in the middle 50s to the lower 60s by daybreak. Some patchy fog may develop late in the typically prone locations, particularly across RI/SE MA. This is where some marginal low level moisture begins to return on the backside of the high pressure system. Saturday... An upper level shortwave will cross the region on Saturday, but it will be lacking low level forcing & deep layer moisture. Therefore, we expect mainly just mid level cloudiness mixed in with peeks of sunshine at times. Low risk of a spot shower or two, but for the most part it will be a dry day with a mixture of sun and clouds. High temps will be in the middle to upper 80s in most locations. Humidity levels will be a bit higher than today, but nothing too bad for this time of year. && .LONG TERM /SATURDAY NIGHT THROUGH THURSDAY/... 4 PM update... Highlights * Dry, low humidity and seasonably warm Saturday * Increasing heat & humidity beginning Sunday & likely persisting into much of next week, possibly peaking Wed/Thu next week * Not expecting any drought busting rains but highest probability of showers/thunderstorms appears to be around Monday and again Wed/Thu Synoptic Overview... Both 12z Euro & GFS ensembles agree the main large scale weather feature this forecast period will be the subtropical ridge centered around the four corners region of the country. This results in downstream troughing from the Great Lakes region into New England. While excessive/record breaking heat will be confined out west, a piece of this airmass may advect into New England the middle of next week, with highs in the 90s possible. As for rainfall, this upper air pattern will not offer any drought busting rains, but each short wave trough should provide scattered convection, especially around the Monday time frame and maybe again mid to late next week. Temperatures... Seasonable warm Saturday with highs in the 80s, but comfortable humidity with dew pts in the 50s, except low to mid 60s along the south coast. 850 mb flow becomes SW per ensembles beginning Sunday and advecting warmer than normal 850 mb temps along with a more humid airmass into SNE. Highs Sunday 85-90 (not as hot south coast) and it will feel warmer as dew pts climb into the 60s, and possibly 70 along the south coast. A piece of that excessive heat out west, advects eastward and modifies, but 850 mb temp anomalies support 85- 90 Mon/Tue, then possibly into the 90s Wed and Thu. Rainfall... WNW flow aloft likely yields below average rainfall this period. Highest probability of showers/thunderstorms waits until next week, around Monday and then again Wed/Thu. && .AVIATION /07Z FRIDAY THROUGH TUESDAY/...
