06z TAF Issuance...VFR conditions are expected through tomorrow
afternoon before windy conditions may cause some blowing dust and
lower visibility through the afternoon hours. However, visibility
was kept at 6 miles at all three sites for this issuance.
South southwest winds will veer to the north tomorrow morning
following a cold front. DHT/GUY will start to see these north
winds during the mid-morning hours, while AMA will be slightly
later around Noon. Wind speeds will rise to 20 to 30 knots with
DHT/GUY maybe seeing some 30 to 35 knot wind speeds in the
afternoon with gusts up to 40 to 50 knots possible. Windy

Very windy conditions to end the work week and start the weekend.
Unfortunately, dry conditions will also continue.

During the early morning hours on Friday, two separate vort
maxima will move SE into the northern Plains. Their net force will
create notable northerly H700 flow moving quickly south lee of
the central Rockies helping to quickly propagate a cold front.
Cold front will enter the OK Panhandle between 15-18Z with strong
wind gusts behind it. High Wind Watch is in effect for northern
Panhandles with the initial surge of the cold front for strongest
winds more likely in the aforementioned area. Other wind headlines
may be needed for the remainder of the Panhandles as well.
Continuing into tomorrow night, notable 50-65 kt H850-700 jet
develops and spread east into the eastern Panhandles. Could see
breezy to windy conditions continuing tomorrow night as H500 low
pressure develops across central Kansas aiding the steep height
gradient across the Panhandles. Although most likely winds wont be
as strong as they would be during the day tomorrow, winds
tomorrow night could be close in magnitude so definitely one to
watch closely where wind headlines may need to be extended.

Low temperatures tonight will range in the 30s with high
temperatures reaching the upper 50s to lower 60s before the front
moves through. Once the cold front moves through, low temperatures
tomorrow night will drop to values ranging from the upper teens to
mid 20s.

FIRE WEATHER...Tomorrow...

Elevated to critical fire weather conditions will be possible
tomorrow. This is a wind driven scenario with 20 ft winds of 20-30
kts with higher gusts at times out of the north. Min RH values
will be lowest in the southern TX Panhandle around 19 percent with
a max RFTI value of 4 expected. With persistent dry fuels, ERC
percentiles range from the 80th to near 95th percentile.

LONG TERM...
Based on water vapor imagery there is a mid to upper closed low
spinning over far western OR and WA. Further east is a ridge
sitting over the Inner Mountain West with dry air sitting over NM
into western TX. The aforementioned low is progged to open up as
it propagates across the Rockies into the central Plains where it
will close off again, as it dives more southerly into KS and OK.
The FA will be impacted by the jet streak associated with the
trough. However, the FA will be dry slotted on the western
periphery of the low.

Saturday will be the coldest day of the week and still breezy
post FROPA, even gusty at times. The GFS is more progressive with
the H5 closed low with the H5 jet right over the FA by 15Z
Saturday, while the EC, EU, and CMC all have the H5 jet maximum
further west. The GFS also has the highest wind speeds at H5
topping out around 100 kts. Looking at the H85 jet though, all the
guidance has the H85 maximum over the eastern FA. This will
create the potential for some pretty gusty conditions continuing
through noon on Saturday especially in the eastern FA. The gust
potential will all depend on the mixing ability. However, per
Bufkit gusts up to 40-50 mph may still be ongoing first thing in
the morning Saturday as winds never decouple. Gust will gradually
decrease going into the afternoon. However, sustained winds look
to stay between 20-25 mph until about an hour before sunset. With
the cold temperatures behind the front wind chill values are
progged to be in the single digits first thing in the morning and
will most likely stay below 32 through the afternoon. Daytime
highs are progged to stay mostly in the 30s for Saturday.

Although the winds stay northerly through most of Sunday, the
cold air mass will move off to the east as winds will be light.
Daytime temperatures will be able to rise back into the 50s after
waking up to morning temperatures in the teens. The rest of the
week looks real tranquil with light winds for Panhandle standards.
Highs will make it to the 60s by Tuesday. However, a weak cold
front late Tuesday will make way for near normal temperatures on
Wednesday in the upper 40s to lower 50s. No precipitation is in
sight, as the upper pattern remains consistent will the passage
of shortwave troughs barely skimming the FA and dry slotting the
area.

This Hazardous Weather Outlook is for the Texas and Oklahoma
Panhandles.

No hazardous weather is expected at this time.

.DAYS TWO THROUGH SEVEN...Friday through Wednesday.

Critical fire weather conditions are expected to develop Friday
across all of the Oklahoma and Texas Panhandles due to strong
north winds and low relative humidity values. A Fire Weather Watch
is in effect for all of the area on Friday from 10 AM until 7 PM.
In addition, a High Wind Watch is in effect for the north to
northwest half of the combined Panhandles from 12 PM until 6 PM
Friday as well, for possible wind gust up to 60 mph.

Area fire managers and emergency officials should be alert for
critical fire weather conditions Friday.
