.NEAR TERM /UNTIL 6 PM THIS EVENING/...
As of 120 PM EST Thursday...

Spring-like weather continues today with mild temps and breezy,
southerly winds. Temps as of 1 PM ranged from the upper 60s to
mid 70s for most, mid to upper 60s for inland portions of the
Eastern Shore, and upper 40s to mid 50s for coastal portions of
the Eastern Shore. WAA ahead of an approaching cold front today
has resulted in S winds will becoming gusty with gusts to 25-30
mph expected to continue through the afternoon. A combination of
cirrus and SCT CU have allowed for many breaks in the cloud
cover this afternoon which are expected to continue. Given more
sunshine than models originally anticipated, have increased
highs today into the lower to mid 70s for most, upper 60s for
inland portions of the Eastern Shore, and mid 50s to mid 60s
for coastal portions of the Eastern Shore. Dews generally in the
lower 50s today.

.SHORT TERM /6 PM THIS EVENING THROUGH SATURDAY NIGHT/...
As of 1045 AM EST Thursday...

Lo pres tracks well NW of the local area (and pushes its
associated cold front off the coast) tonight into Fri. The
front is forecast to cross the local from NW-SE between 09-18Z
Fri. SHRA chances ramp up tonight (esp toward/after midnight)
before diminishing from NW-SE during the day Fri. Temperatures
will remain in the u50s-60s through most of the night due to
the strong SSW low level flow. SSW winds (after a possible bit
of lull this evening) become quite gusty to about 30-45 mph
tonight into Fri morning (ahead of the cold front). Bulk of the
wind will be synoptically driven but there could be brief (even
higher) gusts in any stronger convective elements (SHRAS)
associated w/ the frontal passage.

Highest potential for a Wind Advisory looks be over the NW two-
thirds of the area (including eastern shore, Hampton Roads and
RIC metro), and will consider issuance for the afternoon
forecast package. Have also included a SLGT CHC TSRA mention
over NE NC Fri morning. Lows tonight from the m-u50s W and N to
the l60s SE.

The front exits the coast late morning/early afternoon Fri w/
pcpn diminishing/clearing from NW-SE. Winds shift to NW post
cold front and remain a bit breezy as low level CAA occurs.
Highs from the m-u50s NW to the m-u60s SE.

Partly cloudy early in SE VA-NE NC Fri evening...OTW...mostly
clear and colder Fri night w/ lows in the m-u20s...except l30s
in SE VA-NE NC.

Quick moving clipper system tracks through the Great Lakes into
New England Sat...pushing a trailing cold front across the local
area. Sat will be mostly sunny...breezy and dry (dew points
dropping down into the teens/20s). Any fire wx concerns will be
determined by the rainfall tonight into Fri. Highs Sat mainly
ranging through the 50s. Clear and cold Sat night w/ lows in the
l-m20s...except u20s- around 30F at the coast in SE VA-NE NC.

.LONG TERM /SUNDAY THROUGH WEDNESDAY/...
As of 345 PM EST Wednesday...

High pressure moves over the region on Sunday with temps in the
upper 40s to low 50s for inland locations but remaining cool along
the coast/eastern shore. Overnight lows generally in the low 30s
Sunday night.

High pressure moves offshore on Monday ahead of the next low
pressure/cold front. Warm Monday and Tuesday with high pressure
offshore, highs in the mid 60s to low 70s. The mid week period looks
to continue to be warm but with increasing PoPs as the front stalls
near/north of the area.

.AVIATION /18Z THURSDAY THROUGH TUESDAY/...
As of 1220 PM EST Thursday...

All terminals are VFR with high SCT-BKN clouds. Cloud cover will
increase (MVFR) from west to east ~05z as a cold front approaches
from the west. Mainly showers with locally heavy rain expected to
move west to east start ~05z. Showers/MVFR should clear out tomorrow
morning, lingering into the afternoon for ORF/ECG. S-SSW winds
are gusting 20-25kts and are expected to increase ahead of the
front to 30-35kts and remain elevated through the day tomorrow,
shifting to the NW at the end of the 18z TAF period. LLWS is
also a concern for all terminals during the frontal passage.
Winds will diminish Friday evening. High pressure and VFR will
prevail through early next week.

.MARINE...
As of 1050 AM EST Thursday...

Late this morning, sfc high pressure was centered well off the
Mid Atlc coast. Meanwhile, a cold front was oriented from the
eastern Great Lakes into the Mid-South. Winds were southerly at
10-15 kt over the waters. Waves were 1-2 ft and seas were 2-3
ft.

The cold front will slowly approach from the W-NW during today,
as the sfc high slides farther out to sea. S winds will
gradually increase over the marine area from this aftn into this
evening, and ramp up gradually this aftn into this evening in
advance of the front. SSW winds will increase from 15-20 kt late
this aftn, to 20-30 kt with gusts to 35-45 kt for later this
evening into the early morning hours of Fri. The highest gusts
are still expected over the coastal waters, with gusts to 40-45
kt over the nrn three coastal zns, and gusts to around 35 kt are
expected over the srn two coastal zns. Thus, will have Gale
Warnings for the entire coast, with SCAs for the remainder of
the waters. 12z Data indicating a 3-6 hour window with 25-30 kt
winds and gusts up to 40 kt over portions of the Ches Bay. This
would argue for Gale Warning over most if not all of our waters
tonight, and will re-evaluate that for the aftn update. While
the cold waters will inhibit mixing to a degree, 6-hr pressure
rises on the order of 6-8mb preceding and immediately following
frontal passage do portend winds ramping up to Gale Force
tonight just ahead of and coincident with frontal passage.

The cold front will push across the waters and out to sea Fri
morning into early Fri aftn. Winds will become NW or N 15-25 kt
behind the front on Fri, then diminish quickly by Fri night, as
weak high pressure builds into the area. A dry cold front will
drop across the area late Sat/Sat evening, with SCAs possible
over most of the waters late Sat into Sat night.
