...HIGH WIND WARNING REMAINS IN EFFECT UNTIL 6 AM AKDT TUESDAY...

* WHAT...Northeast winds 30 to 40 mph with gusts of 60 to 70 mph 
  expected.

* WHERE...Juneau area, especially near Downtown Juneau and Lemon 
  Creek.

* WHEN...From 4 PM this afternoon to 6 AM AKDT Tuesday.

* IMPACTS...Damaging winds could blow down trees and power 
  lines. Travel will be difficult, especially for aviation and 
  high profile vehicles.

* ADDITIONAL DETAILS...Peak winds expected near Downtown Juneau 
  Monday evening.

...HIGH WIND WARNING IS CANCELLED...

The strong gusty winds around the Downtown Juneau and Douglas
area have diminished. Peak wind yesterday and overnight was
reported to be 77 mph at the Juneau AML Dock sensor. Gusts of 40
to 50 mph will continue into the afternoon.

.SHORT TERM...Predominately clear skies this morning across the
area. Observations and satellite imagery this morning are only
showing mid-level clouds spilling over the passes for Haines and
Skagway and some coming across the coastal range near Petersburg
and Wrangell. Gusty winds of 25 to 35 kt for the portions of the
eastern Gulf of Alaska and most North-South oriented channels.

The southern panhandle may see a few more clouds spilling out of
British Columbia as the clouds try to move towards the SE Gulf.
Isolated to scattered showers around Misty Fjords looks to be the
only potential precipitation on Monday.

.LONG TERM.../Tuesday through Friday night/...Partly cloudy
skies, late-season outflow winds, and a much wider temperature
range are the top stories for the period.

Aloft, SE AK continues to be under the western side of a broad
long wave trough, which is helping to block systems from reaching
the area. Through the second half of the week, energy moving
downstream of the area will see the lefternmost section of said
trough deepen over the area, even as the rest of the trough starts
to weaken. This will continue to encourage higher pressure in the
lower levels, with ridging evident over the gulf at 850 mb per
models through the second half of the week.

A tight northeast to southwest pressure gradient will continue
into Tuesday before gradually beginning to weaken, resulting in
Gales and small craft winds remaining likely for many of the
inner channels. The gradient looks to also cause northeasterly
outflow winds over areas prone to that such as downtown
Juneau/Douglas, the Skagway area, Petersburg, Wrangell, and even
Klawock and Angoon may have some gusty northeast winds for the
timeframe with the tightest gradient.

Temperatures look to be much cooler for nighttime lows and around
average for this time of year for daytime highs. This is due to
anticipated strong radiational cooling at night due to the
absence of cloud cover. Also, generally, modest 850mb model
forecast cold air advection looks to be in place over the
Panhandle during the early half of the week transitioning to more
neutral as the weekend approaches. Lows look to dip to between 20
and 30 over the Panhandle and highs look to rebound to between 40
and 50. In the areas that look to have the stronger outflow
winds, confidence is less as to exactly just how low those low
temperatures will get. If they do not get as low overnight due to
mixing/downsloping from the strong winds, their daytime high
temperatures may also reach values in excess of 50 degrees.

Precipitation does not look to be of concern for the period. The
area looks to remain dry with only very slight chances for an
isolated light shower as a possible system attempts to work its
way into the area towards the end of the week. Clear to partly
cloudy skies look to prevail through Thursday night.

Forecast confidence is above average as all of the operational
models and the ensembles support the idea of dominant high
pressure through the long term forecast period.

.AVIATION...Gusty wind conditions will be present across much of
the panhandle through the first half of the week before gradually
subsiding. Because of these winds, Wind Shear was mentioned in
nearly all of the TAF locations this morning. Turbulence in the
vicinity of rough terrain as wind flow across rougher terrain.
