Winds have weakened. Winds will briefly gust up to 45 mph this
afternoon and will then continue to weaken into the evening.

.SYNOPSIS...
A strong 978 mb low pressure system will move north into the
Chukchi Sea Today then track into the Arctic and weaken on
Wednesday. Winter storm warnings still ongoing for the west coast
as well as coastal flood advisories. Snow is spreading into the
Western and Northern Interior Today. Snow will continue for the
western Interior through Wednesday. Strong south winds continuing
in the Alaska Range. Warmer temperatures for the Interior through
the week.

.DISCUSSION... Aloft...Upper level ridging will shift to the east
today while a strong 510 dam low tracks north into the Chuckchi
sea on Tuesday. Chinook flow will ramp up over the Interior today
and continue into Wednesday bringing warmer conditions for the
Central Interior. Southerly flow will continue over the Interior
through Wednesday then switch to westerly flow on Thursday. A 519
dam low will track across the Aluetians on Thursday. Another
low will track across northwest Alaska on Thursday.

West coast and North slope...A strong 978 mb low pressure system
will move north into the Chukchi Sea Today then track into the
Arctic and weaken on Wednesday. Winter storm warnings still
ongoing for the west coast as well as coastal flood advisories.
Due to strong winds over open water, coastal flood advisories and
high surf advisories are in effect as well for the Yukon Delta,
and Norton Sound and Chuckchi sea coast. Wave run up of 4 to 6
feet above the normal high tide line is expected.
Snow is spreading into the Western and Northern Interior Today.
Snow will develop again over the western Interior tonight through
Wednesday. Winds over the west coast will diminish some on
Wednesday.

Interior...Strong system to the west is producing snow over the
western Interior this morning. Some snow is making its way
across the Middle Tanana Valley but light accumulations expected
this morning. Gusty winds in the passes today and from Delta
Junction south. As a result, High Wind Warnings still in effect
through this morning and early afternoon. Winds will diminish
some this afternoon. High temps in the low 20s through Thursday.

Coastal Hazard Potential Days 3 and 4...None.

Extended Forecast Days 4 Through 7...
The extended outlook remains similar to previous model runs, which
has Alaska settling into a broad trough pattern with a series of
systems moving through the Bering Sea.
