.SYNOPSIS FOR ARCTIC WATERS...
A 981 mb low E of the northern Kamchatka Peninsula will move to 
Wrangel Island as a 995 mb low by Wednesday morning, continuing 
northeast and weakening through Thursday. A weather front 
stretching from this low will move along the Dateline tonight and 
persist into Wednesday.

.SYNOPSIS...
A strong low moving over the Alaska Range towards the Yukon
Territories this morning will continue precipitation across much
of the Central and Eastern Interior through Monday evening. A
strong pressure gradient will develop between a low in Russia
and a strong high over the eastern Interior. South winds
30 to 45 mph with gusts to 70 mph from the Bering strait to
Point Hope Tuesday afternoon through Wednesday night. Strong
winds will also produce high surf for the same areas and possible
minor coastal flooding from Point Hope to Utqiavik Tuesday night
through Thursday. Another low will move into the Bering bringing
a rain/snow mix for some of the west coast on Thursday.

.DISCUSSION...
Aloft...Ridging is building along the West Coast that will sweep
out the weakening shortwaves eastward in the Interior by Tuesday
evening. This will merge with a larger high pressure system in the
southeast that will extend ridging across mainland Alaska. This
will hold in place through Wednesday afternoon while a low in
Eastern Russian sends troughs over top the northwest and western
portion of the ridge.

North Slope and Brooks Range...
Snow remains from Deadhorse east through this afternoon but
accumulations will only be 1 to 3 inches. South winds
30 to 45 mph with gusts to 70 mph from the Bering strait to
Point Hope Tuesday afternoon through Wednesday night. Cape
Lisburne could see gusts to 80 mph. Strong winds will also
produce high surf for the same areas and possible minor coastal
flooding from Point Hope to Utqiavik Tuesday night through
Thursday. High winds will cause elevated water levels and high
surf along the coast from Point Hope to Utqiagvik Tuesday night
through Thursday. Minor coastal flooding is also possible with
waves 2 to 4 feet above the normal high tide line. Beach erosion
is also possible. Winds will be lighter Utqiagvik east but could
see periods 40 mph wind gusts through Wednesday night.
Temperatures will see a brief cooling across the Brooks Range
tonight before warm air spreads across the North Slope and Brooks
Range through midweek.

Central and Eastern Interior...
Snow will taper off this afternoon from west to east through the
day. Strong ridging in place by Tuesday morning will suppress
active weather for much of the Interior through the early parts of
the week. High temperatures will be in the single digit to double
digits with a warm-up expected for the weekend. Conditions will
gusts to 25 mph in higher elevations in the Interior Tuesday
evening to early morning Wednesday.

Western Interior and West Coast...
A strong pressure gradient will develop between a low in Russia
and a strong high over the eastern Interior. South winds 30 to 45
mph with gusts to 70 mph from the Bering strait to Point Hope
Tuesday afternoon through Wednesday night. High wind warning has
been issued for the Bering strait and watches north of the Bering.
High surf advisories have also been issued for the same areas.
Another low will move into the Bering bringing a rain/snow mix
for some of the west coast on Thursday.

Coastal Hazard Potential Days 3 and 4...Elevated water levels from
the Yukon Delta north to Utqiagvik Tuesday through Wednesday with
potential flooding from the Bering Strait north to Utqiagvik.

Extended Days 4 to 7...
Long-range models have good agreement of strong high pressure
remaining over the Central and Eastern Interior through the
remainder of the week. This begins to break down as models hint at
an approaching low from the Bering Sea sometime around Saturday,
but the placement, timing, and strength of this low is in large
disagreement between models.
