* WHAT...Blizzard conditions occurring. Travel will be very 
  difficult to impossible. Expect whiteout conditions with near 
  zero visibility.

* WHERE...Eastern Beaufort Sea Coast.

* WHEN...Until noon Monday.

* ADDITIONAL DETAILS...West winds gusting to 40 mph are causing 
  whiteout conditions in blowing snow. Significant drifting of 
  the snow is likely. Conditions will slowly improve during the 
  day Monday as winds slowly decrease.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

A Blizzard Warning means severe winter weather conditions are
expected or occurring. Falling and blowing snow with strong winds
and poor visibilities are likely. This will lead to whiteout
conditions, making travel extremely difficult. The latest road

.SYNOPSIS...
Clear skies and cold temperatures have settled into the Interior
overnight, with these conditions persisting through early next
week. A mostly dry weather pattern over the next several days,
with the exception being an Arctic front bringing light snow
across the North Slope mainly east of Utqiagvik today through
Monday. Quiet conditions out west, with offshore flow
strengthening going into the work week.

.DISCUSSION...
The Omega Block aloft continues this morning, as conditions across
northern Alaska are mostly quiet. The strong ridging pattern over
the eastern Bering Sea is resulting in northerly flow across the
forecast area, leading to cold temperatures where skies are clear
this morning. An Arctic low centered near Banks Island is sending
a shortwave across the North Slope this morning, leading to
increased clouds and chances for snow over the next couple of
days. The strong ridge will keep building into the Chukchi Sea
through the beginning of the week.

Troughing west the ridge will eventually undercut the ridge by
Tuesday and combine with an Arctic trough centered over the Brooks
Range going into Thursday, resulting in what looks like a more
active pattern relative to the current pattern of mostly clear and
calm conditions.

Central and Eastern Interior...
Remnants of a weather front that caused light snow in the
southeastern Interior the last couple of days is quickly
retreating eastward, with skies clearing. In areas of the
Interior where skies are already clear, temperatures in the 20s
and 30s below zero overnight is expected to trend colder into the
30s and 40s below zero tonight and tomorrow night as surface high
pressure builds into the area. A slight warming trend expected by
the middle of the week as increasing clouds become more likely.
Otherwise, quiet weather expected through most of next week.

North Slope and Brooks Range...
Midlevel clouds are keeping temperatures in the single digits
below across most of the Arctic Coast this morning. Westerly winds
will continue into next week, with light snow and blowing snow
issues across the eastern Arctic Coast. An Arctic front along the
eastern Arctic Coast will keep light snow possibilities over the
next couple days in this area. Temperatures are expected to trend
colder across the North Slope into the 20s and 30s below by
Tuesday night.

West Coast and Western Interior...
Quiet conditions continuing along the West Coast over the next
several days. Temperatures are coldest in the Kotzebue Sound
region again this morning in the 30s to 40s below. A slow warming
trend is expected going into the middle of next week as warmer air
from the south pushes in across the area. Strong offshore flow
expected to increase going into the work week as surface low
pressure moves north into the Bering Sea, increasing the pressure
gradient. Chances for snow will be limited to the southern
portions of the area on Monday and Tuesday.

Coastal Hazard Potential Days 3 and 4...None.

Extended Forecast For Days 4 Through 7...
Cold and mostly dry conditions persisting through the middle of
the week. Models are indicating similar versions of troughing
aloft that would support a more active pattern going into the
weekend, with snow across the Interior.
