* WHAT...Areas of light freezing drizzle will continue across
  northeast and east-central Oklahoma through the evening hours,
  with the potential for light freezing drizzle to redevelop
  across northwest Arkansas as temperatures fall back below
  freezing. Additional ice accumulations around a tenth of an inch
  will be possible in some areas, with lesser amounts across 
  northwest Arkansas. 

* WHERE...Portions of northeast Oklahoma and northwest Arkansas.

* WHEN...Until midnight CST tonight.

* IMPACTS...Roads along and north of I-44 have become very slick
  and hazardous due to ice accumulations, especially on bridges
  and overpasses. Travel is currently not recommended due to the
  hazardous driving conditions. 

* ADDITIONAL DETAILS...Around a quarter inch of ice has   
  accumulated on trees and power lines along and north of I-44. 
  Although the winds are expected to remain relatively light, some
  sporadic power outages will be possible through this evening.

Ongoing IFR conditions in Northwest Arkansas to MVFR ceilings
across Eastern Oklahoma this morning should become primarily MVFR
by late morning over the CWA. These conditions should continue
through the evening hours before IFR conditions try to return
overnight tonight. There is a slight chance of freezing drizzle
across parts of Northeast Oklahoma late tonight though will hold
off on mentioning due to limited forecast coverage. Winds across
Northeast Oklahoma and the FSM area look to remain easterly
through the period while Southeast Oklahoma and far Northwest
Arkansas start out easterly and then shift more southeast as a
surface boundary lifts northward today.

DISCUSSION...
Main forecast issues over the next few days will focus on temps
and any potential of light wintry precipitation.

The shallow cold airmass has sagged through much of the region,
although in typical fashion it has hung up across the higher
terrain of southeast OK into western AR. Significant cloud cover
today will limit mixing today, so have lowered highs a few
degrees over the NBM (and this still may not be cold enough over
parts of northeast OK).

Reasonably deep isentropic lift is expected to develop later
Sunday night into Monday morning as a weak wave approaches from
the west. Forecast soundings/HREF are supportive of areas of
drizzle/freezing drizzle/flurries across parts of northeast OK
into far northwest AR, with some light glazing possible before
surface temperatures gradually warm above freezing. Temperatures
may moderate a bit on Monday before the next surge of colder air
drops south Monday night. May also see some areas of light
freezing drizzle for parts of far northeast OK/northwest AR.

Precipitation chances are expected to increase again Wednesday
into Wednesday night, as a stronger upper wave swings into the
southern Plains. Thermal profiles suggest mostly rain across
southeast OK into western AR, with a light wintry mix possible
along the northern edge of the precipitation. The chances of a
light mix will expand across much of the region Wednesday night
into Thursday as the cold air deepens, although overall amounts
appear to be light. The main story for late this week and into
the weekend will be the bitterly cold temperatures and wind
chills. Have stayed close to the colder NBM/GFS solution over the
"warmer" ECMWF, with single digit lows likely across much of the
forecast area. Wind chill values will likely dip to 0 to -10F
both Friday and Saturday mornings over northeast OK/northwest AR.

DISCUSSION...
Light freezing drizzle is ongoing across parts of northwest and
north central Oklahoma this morning and should spread eastward
into northeast Oklahoma and far northwest Arkansas this afternoon
and into tonight. Areas along the Kansas and Missouri borders will
be most likely to see a prolonged duration of freezing drizzle.
Additional light freezing drizzle will be possible late tonight
and into early tomorrow morning in these same areas. A light
glaze of ice will be possible, which could lead to some slick
spots on untreated roadways.

EXTENDED DISCUSSION...
Light freezing drizzle will be possible again Monday night into
early Tuesday over parts of far northeast Oklahoma and northwest
Arkansas. Periods of light wintry weather will be possible through
the remainder of the week, although overall amounts should be
light. A reinforcing shot of cold air is expected toward the end
of the week, with dangerous wind chills from zero to ten below zero
possible by Friday and Saturday mornings.
