.DISCUSSION...
This afternoon....a west to east oriented vorticity lobe was
positioned from the Texas Panhandle through Eastern Oklahoma and
Northwest Arkansas and into Central Arkansas. Along and near this
vorticity lobe...combined with a couple weak surface
boundaries...isolated showers and thunderstorms had develop
across portions of Eastern Oklahoma and West Central Arkansas.
This activity will remain possible into the evening hours before
weakening with the loss of daytime heating and decreasing
instability. Severe weather is not anticipated through this
evening.

Starting Thursday...high pressure looks to set up over the
Southern Plains with the upper level jet over the northern CONUS.
High pressure is forecast to remain common over the region into
the weekend before lifting more northeast Sunday. This will allow
for warming temps into the weekend with highs back in the low/mid
90s Saturday. Also through this time period...an upper level
impulse within the ridge of high pressure is progged to hold over
the region with an upper level trof axis moving through the region
Friday. In response...isolated chances for showers and storms
look to be possible each afternoon Friday through Sunday mainly
over the higher terrain of Southeast Oklahoma and Northwest
Arkansas. Will continue with slight chance pops Friday as the
upper trof moves through and hold onto pops just below mentionable
criteria Saturday.

Sunday into the Monday the weak impulse is forecast to begin
lifting through the region ahead of a much more defined wave
moving eastward into the Plains Monday/Tuesday. Thus...will
continue to carry at least slight chance pops Sunday and Monday
afternoons across Southeast Oklahoma and Northwest Arkansas. The
stronger wave is progged to push a more fall like cold front into
the CWA during the Tuesday to Wednesday time frame...depending on
the model of choice. GFS continues to be faster while the ECMWF
has been more consistent with timing of Tuesday night into
Wednesday. Thus...have leaned toward the ECMWF for details. Shower
and thunderstorm chances increase as the front moves through with
much cooler temps...highs of 70s near 80 deg...behind the front
Wednesday. Will continue to refine timing/strength of this system
as the event approaches.
