...HEAT ADVISORY IN EFFECT UNTIL 5 PM EDT THIS AFTERNOON...

* WHAT...High temperatures in the middle 90s with heat index
  values up to 109 expected.

* WHERE...Polk, Hardee, Highlands and Inland Manatee Counties.

* WHEN...From 11 AM this morning to 5 PM EDT this afternoon.

* IMPACTS...Hot temperatures and high humidity may cause heat 
  illnesses to occur.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

Drink plenty of fluids, stay in an air-conditioned room, stay out
of the sun, and check up on relatives and neighbors. Young
children and pets should never be left unattended in vehicles
under any circumstances.

Take extra precautions if you work or spend time outside. When
possible reschedule strenuous activities to early morning or
evening. Know the signs and symptoms of heat exhaustion and heat
stroke. Wear lightweight and loose fitting clothing when
possible. To reduce risk during outdoor work, the Occupational
Safety and Health Administration recommends scheduling frequent
rest breaks in shaded or air conditioned environments. Anyone
overcome by heat should be moved to a cool and shaded location.
Heat stroke is an emergency! Call 9 1 1.

.SHORT TERM (TDY-SAT)...
A relatively quiet, but muggy, start to our day with the
exception of a few storms offshore. Meanwhile, high pressure
spreading across the Sunshine State will keep easterly flow in
place into the weekend, while subsidence from Hurricane Grace
pushes pockets of dry air into the area, which will somewhat limit
the amount of convection we will see along the sea breeze. But,
PWAT values will be as low as 1.50 inches and daytime heating
should support some action this afternoon, especially along the
coast.

On the other hand, there will still be very warm temperatures,
and enough moisture available for Heat indices to reach advisory
levels. Therefore, a Heat Advisory is in effect through 5 pm this
afternoon. Florida residents and visitors should stay hydrated
and try to limit outdoor activities. Afternoon highs will range
from the low to mid 90s, while overnight lows stay in the low to
mid 70s.

By Friday and into the weekend, an increase in moisture will
result in an increase in storm coverage with high pressure
dominating over the area. Very warm and muggy conditions stay in
place during this time.

.LONG TERM (SUN-WED)...
As we go into next week, a TUTT will move into the Bahamas and
bring extra tropical moisture into the region, further increasing
our rain chances.

.AVIATION...
Light/variable to E/SE winds early increasing to 5 to 10 knots while
gradually veering/turning onshore during afternoon before decreasing
to light/variable during evening. VCTS possible during afternoon
which may cause brief flight restrictions otherwise VFR expected
through the period.

.MARINE...
High pressure will stay in place over the Gulf waters keeping
typical summertime conditions. Easterly winds will dominate with
the sea breeze shifting winds in the afternoon. No headlines
needed at this time.

.FIRE WEATHER...
Relatively moist conditions and easterly winds will stay in place
as high pressure dominates over fire districts. The afternoon sea
breeze will shift winds each afternoon through the period. Limited
storm coverage is expected today as pockets of dry air move into
the area. Moisture will increase going into the weekend. NO fire
weather concerns during this time.
