* WHAT...For the High Surf Advisory, large breaking waves of 5 
  to 7 feet in the surf zone. For the High Rip Current Risk, 
  dangerous rip currents.

* WHERE...Bay and Gulf County Beaches.

* WHEN...For the High Surf Advisory, until 7 PM EST /6 PM CST/ 
  Saturday. For the High Rip Current Risk, through Saturday 
  evening.

* IMPACTS...Dangerous swimming and surfing conditions and 
  localized beach erosion. Rip currents can sweep even the best 
  swimmers away from shore into deeper water.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

Inexperienced swimmers should remain out of the water due to
dangerous surf conditions.

Swim near a lifeguard. If caught in a rip current, relax and
float. Don't swim against the current. If able, swim in a
direction following the shoreline. If unable to escape, face the
shore and call or wave for help.

.NEAR TERM [Through Saturday]...

In the wake of today's cold front, we'll continue to experience
CAA as we transition to the back end of the upper-level trough
currently over the northeast U.S. Elevated winds will prevent
temps from bottoming out tonight but will begin to wind down
throughout the day tomorrow. Clear and dry conditions will
dominate through the near term. Expect overnight lows to be in the
mid to upper 30s while daytime highs struggle to reach the mid
50s tomorrow away from the coat.

.SHORT TERM [Saturday Night Through Sunday Night]...

The coldest air of this forecast period will be in place Saturday
night. Most inland areas will see a relatively brief (1-4 hour)
light freeze with temperatures bottoming out between 28 and 32
degrees by sunrise Sunday. There will also be a widespread frost
that will reach within a mile or two of the coast. A short wave
trough will sweep across the area Sunday night, but will be
moisture starved with little sensible weather. There will be a few
more clouds, but northern areas will stay mostly clear. Despite
this, a light wind should limit frost development. Highs on
Saturday will be below normal, in the mid to upper 50s.

.LONG TERM [Monday Through Friday]...

We will finally see a break from the progressive upper level
pattern for this period as an upper low deepens off the coast of
Baja California on Tuesday. This low will then open up as it
reaches the Southern Plains by Thursday night. The Deep Southeast
will actually be in a period of low amplitude upper ridging
through this period. Surface high pressure will build east from
southern Louisiana on Monday to off the Florida east coast by
Thursday. This will allow for at least a period of return flow off
the Gulf of Mexico, which should eventually bring a return of
rain chances. High pressure will keep things dry until PoPs return
for Thursday and Friday. A much-anticipated moderating trend in
temperatures will occur through this period as well with highs on
Thursday and Friday reaching 70 degrees in some areas.

.AVIATION...
[Through 18Z Saturday]

The cold front that has been impacting all terminals today is
moving out of the region quickly. All terminals west of VLD have
transitioned into VFR conditions with clearing skies. VLD is
expected to transition to VFR within the next few hours. All
terminals are expected to be in VFR by 21Z. Winds are expected to
remain at current levels through the rest of today, with breezy
conditions moving into the region tomorrow afternoon.

.MARINE...

A small craft advisory remains in effect as west-northwest winds
behind the front are expected to increase to 20-25 knots overnight
with gusts to 30 knots. Conditions will begin to improve Saturday
afternoon with conditions dropping below cautionary levels
Saturday night. Winds will briefly increase once again Sunday
night before lighter winds settle in for the rest of the forecast
period.

.FIRE WEATHER...

Drier air and breezy west to northwest winds will continue to
move into the region behind todays cold front. Relative humidity
levels could drop into the 25 to 35 percent range this afternoon
across southeast Alabama but fuel moisture (KBDI) is forecast to
be above critical levels, thus red flag conditions are not
expected.

.HYDROLOGY...

Storm-total rainfall with today's frontal system has been about a
quarter to half an inch, not enough to cause any flooding concerns.
The next chance for rain will come Thursday and Friday of next
week. In the mean time, stages on area rivers will continue to
fall, except on the Suwannee where gradual rises will continue for
the time being, well below action stage.
