Scattered to numerous showers and thunderstorms are expected this afternoon, especially over portions of Deep East Texas and North Louisiana, as well as extreme Northeast Texas, Southeast Oklahoma, and portions of Southwest Arkansas. Isolated strong storms can not be ruled out this afternoon, with locally gusty winds and brief heavy rainfall possible. Additional shower and thunderstorm redevelopment will be possible later tonight across Northeast Texas, Southeast Oklahoma, and Southwest Arkansas as an upper level disturbance enters the region. .DAYS TWO THROUGH SEVEN...Saturday through Thursday... Scattered to numerous showers and thunderstorms is expected across the region this weekend into much of next week as a series of upper level disturbances move into the area, which will help reinforce a weak surface front south into the region by early next week. At 230 PM CDT, Doppler radar was tracking strong thunderstorms along
a line extending from 12 miles south of Winnfield to 8 miles
northeast of Colfax to near Lena. Movement was east at 20 mph.
Winds in excess of 40 mph will be possible with these storms.
Locations impacted include...
Colfax, Pollock, Dry Prong, Georgetown, Lake Iatt, Williana, Bentley
and Rochelle.
PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...
Torrential rainfall is also occurring with these storms, and may lead
to localized flooding. Do not drive your vehicle through flooded
roadways.
Frequent cloud to ground lightning is occurring with these storms.
Lightning can strike 10 miles away from a thunderstorm. Seek a safe
shelter inside a building or vehicle.
