The National Weather Service in Springfield has issued a

* Flash Flood Warning for...
  Newton County in southwestern Missouri...

* Until 830 AM CST Saturday.

* At 1236 AM CST, Doppler radar indicated thunderstorms producing 
  heavy rain across the warned area. Between 1 and 3 inches of rain 
  have fallen. Additional rainfall amounts of 1 to 3 inches are 
  possible in the warned area. Flash flooding is ongoing or expected 
  to begin shortly, especially in and around the city of Neosho.  
  High School Branch and Hickory Creek are likely to flood parts of 
  Neosho. Rapid rises along Lost Creek and Little Lost Creek in the 
  city of Seneca is also possible.

  HAZARD...Flash flooding caused by thunderstorms.

  SOURCE...Radar.

  IMPACT...Flash flooding of small creeks and streams, urban
           areas, highways, streets and underpasses as well as
           other poor drainage and low-lying areas.

* Some locations that will experience flash flooding include...
  Southern Joplin, Neosho, Galena, Seneca, Granby, Duquesne, Diamond 
  and Leawood.

This includes the following low water crossings...
  McCord Street at High School Branch, Color Road at Hickory Creek, 
  Orchid Drive at North Indian Creek, Lost Creek in Senaca, Little 
  Lost Creek in Seneca, and Route CC at Lost Creek just south of 
  Racine.

MORNING FOR NEWTON COUNTY...

At 725 AM CST, Doppler radar indicated light to moderate rainfall 
continuing across Newton County. Between 1 and 4 inches of rain have 
fallen. Flooding is ongoing, however, rainfall is expected to 
dissipate later today.

HAZARD...Flash flooding caused by heavy rain.

IMPACT...Flash flooding of small creeks and streams, urban areas,
         highways, streets and underpasses as well as other poor
         drainage and low-lying areas.

Some locations that will experience flash flooding include...
  Neosho, Senaca, and Stella.

NEWTON COUNTY...

The heavy rain has ended and flash flooding is no longer expected. 
However, river and creek levels will continue to rise and low lying 
areas will remain flooded. Please continue to heed remaining road 
closures.

A Flood Watch remains in effect until 600 PM CST Saturday for 
Portions of southeast Kansas. Portions of Missouri.
