The National Weather Service in Springfield has issued a

* Flash Flood Warning for...
  Northwestern Barry County in southwestern Missouri...
  Southwestern Lawrence County in southwestern Missouri...

* Until 500 AM CDT Tuesday.

* At 1058 PM CDT, Doppler radar indicated thunderstorms producing 
  heavy rain across northwest Barry County and southwest Lawrence 
  County. Between 1 and 2 inches of rain have fallen. Additional 
  rainfall amounts up to 2 inches are possible in the warned area. 
  Flash flooding is ongoing or expected to begin shortly. This 
  excessive rain is falling within the Kelly Creek basin, which 
  could create flooding in or around Monett.

  HAZARD...Flash flooding caused by thunderstorms.

  SOURCE...Radar.

  IMPACT...Flash flooding of small creeks and streams, urban
           areas, highways, streets and underpasses as well as
           other poor drainage and low-lying areas.

* Some locations that will experience flash flooding include...
  Monett and Pierce City.

Turn around, don't drown when encountering flooded roads. Most flood

...FLASH FLOOD WARNING REMAINS IN EFFECT UNTIL 5 AM CDT EARLY THIS 
MORNING FOR NORTHWESTERN BARRY AND SOUTHWESTERN LAWRENCE COUNTIES...

At 1246 AM CDT, Local law enforcement reported flooding across the 
warned area. Between 4 and 6 inches of rain have fallen over 
headwater areas east of Monett, resulting in significant flooding 
including Kelly Creek which flows through downtown Monett. Flash 
flooding is already occurring.

HAZARD...Life threatening flash flooding. Thunderstorms producing
         flash flooding.

SOURCE...Law enforcement reported.

IMPACT...Life threatening flash flooding of creeks and streams,
         urban areas, highways, streets and underpasses.

Some locations that will experience flash flooding include...
  Monett and Pierce City.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

Turn around, don't drown when encountering flooded roads. Most flood 
deaths occur in vehicles.

Be especially cautious at night when it is harder to recognize the
