The National Weather Service in Springfield has issued a

* Flash Flood Warning for...
  Southwestern Lawrence County in southwestern Missouri...

* Until 415 AM CDT Tuesday.

* At 1010 PM CDT, Doppler radar and automated rain gauges indicated 
  thunderstorms producing heavy rain across the head waters of the 
  Spring River. Between 2 and 4 inches of rain have fallen. Flash 
  flooding is expected along the Spring River basin as waters move 
  in from upstream.

  HAZARD...Flash flooding caused by thunderstorms.

  SOURCE...Radar and automated gauges.

  IMPACT...Flash flooding of small creeks and streams, urban
           areas, highways, streets and underpasses as well as
           other poor drainage and low-lying areas.

* Some locations that will experience flash flooding include...
  Stotts City, La Russell and Hoberg.

This includes the following low water crossings...
  Farm Road 2130 at The Spring River west of Mount Vernon and 
  Highway 97 at The Spring River north of Stotts City.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

Turn around, don't drown when encountering flooded roads. Most flood 
deaths occur in vehicles.

Be especially cautious at night when it is harder to recognize the 
dangers of flooding.
