.SYNOPSIS...Low marine stratus arrived along the coast overnight.
Elsewhere, a few high clouds are brushing Western Washington as a
weather system moves into northern California today. The air mass
will cool through the end of the week as northwest flow aloft and
light onshore flow develop. A front will arrive over the weekend
and a period of rainy weather is likely.
&&
.SHORT TERM /TODAY THROUGH THURSDAY/...Coastal marine stratus and
patchy fog will burn off for the afternoon at the ocean beaches
today. For the interior it will be sunny today--the low clouds
made it to Shelton but probably will not make it up into Puget
Sound to any significant degree. There is some cirrus and a few
mid level clouds brushing the area as a weak upper low moves to
nrn Calif but temps will still be warm today and Wednesday--
finishing off a full week of highs in the 70s to lower 80s.
However, the ridge will give out and upper heights fall later Wed
and Wed nite as an upper trough over Canada brushes the Pacific
Northwest. Thursday will be cooler--the air mass gets back to a
much more typical for April and highs will be in upper 50s to mid
60s. Onshore flow will bring marine clouds and dampness back to
Western Washington as well Thursday. 19
.LONG TERM /FRIDAY THROUGH MONDAY/...Friday will probably be a
repeat of Thursday with cool marine air and clouds and then an
increasing chance of some rain for showery weather as the day goes
on. A frontal system will arrive over the weekend--the weather
should turn breezy--at least on the coast, and it will be safe for
Western Washington slugs to get back on the move. Snow will
return to the higher elevations of the mountains--although it is
getting pretty late in the season for the snow to have much effect
on the main passes. Still, winter will return to the high
elevations of the mountains as it should after this recent dose of
unseasonably early summer weather. 19

.AVIATION...Mid and high level cloud cover will continue through the
morning hours today from KSEA westward as an area of low pressure
tracks into California. Marine stratus will also continue along the
Coast, with BKN to OVC LIFR-IFR ceilings expected at KHQM. Stratus
may approach KOLM near daybreak but are not expected to create a
ceiling. Should see a clearing trend at all TAF sites through the
day today with VFR conditions expected. Winds will be generally
light and variable early this morning, becoming northerly late
morning/early afternoon 5-10kts.
KSEA...VFR. A few mid level clouds through mid-morning, clear
thereafter, Winds becoming north later this morning around 10kts.

.MARINE...The overall pattern is characterized by weak onshore flow
this morning as high pressure resides over the Pacific and a weak
trough continues inland over W WA. This is allowing for the return
of marine stratus along the Coast, with better coverage early this
morning than what developed 24 hours ago. Some of this stratus may
work its way down western portions of the Strait of Juan de Fuca.
Elsewhere, clear conditions prevail.
Marine stratus will slowly erode along the Coast and recede back
over the Pacific later this morning and into the early afternoon
hours. Aside from the Coastal Waters, should be another sunny day
over the water. Winds will be light through the day, with a westerly
push down the Strait of Juan de Fuca likely early this evening. A
small craft advisory has been introduced for this time period, as
west winds looks to reach around 21-22kts. A small craft advisory
will also go into effect at midnight for the Outer Coastal Waters
for NW winds. SCA winds over the Outer Coastal Waters water will
likely continue into Thursday, eventually reaching the Inner Coastal
Waters.
Westerly pushed down the Strait are likely each evening, with a
pattern change expected at the end of the week that is set to bring
a return to unsettled weather. Winds look breezy at times over the
weekend.
Seas will remain under 10 feet over the next 7 days.

are fading and the switch to onshore flow with cooler temps will
alleviate fire concerns this week. Wet weather should arrive over
the weekend and that will get things back to average weather for
