.SYNOPSIS...A front will move through the area today for rain and
mountain snow. Convergence Zone potential tonight with showers
lingering into Monday morning, mainly in the mountains. Ridging
will build into the Pacific Northwest Tuesday and Wednesday for
drier weather. Troughing will develop Thursday with a series of
systems moving through the area into next weekend.

.SHORT TERM /TODAY THROUGH TUESDAY/...Increasing clouds across the
area early this morning with the front located offshore. With the
high clouds spreading overheard across the area, a colorful
sunrise may be possible, mainly east of the Puget Sound and into
the Cascades. Otherwise, rain will push onshore this morning and
slide east into the Puget Sound by late morning as the front moves
through the area. Breezy winds this morning, mainly for the coast
and areas of the San Juan Islands, Skagit/Whatcom Counties near
the water, with increasing southerlies. The bulk of the rain will
slide through during the afternoon with showers lingering tonight.
Mountain snow with this system with amounts of 1-3" for the
Passes. A convergence zone may develop tonight across the central
Puget Sound for additional precipitation. There is some
uncertainty if this develops, however, snow levels will also be
lowering through tonight into early Monday. Any precipitation
activity is expected to remain mainly rain, however, a brief wet
snow/rain mix will be possible across this area tonight into early
Monday morning, with the best chance along the Kitsap Peninsula
and Hood Canal. No impacts are expected. Temperatures will be
cooler today with highs in the mid 40s to low 50s.
Drier weather late Monday through Tuesday as ridging builds into
the area. Some lingering light precipitation may be around the
mountains into Monday afternoon as the upper low slides southeast
across the area. Patchy fog or freezing fog may develop Tuesday
morning with additional clearing and temperatures in the low 30s
for Tuesday morning. Temperatures Tuesday afternoon in the upper
40s to low 50s across the area.
.LONG TERM /WEDNESDAY THROUGH SATURDAY/...Ridging over the area
Wednesday for drier weather. Troughing will develop over the NE
Pacific Thursday into the weekend for a wetter and cooler pattern
across the Pacific Northwest. Ensembles suggest the first front
will move through the area on Thursday for lowland rain and
mountain snow. Guidance is in agreement with a series of weather
systems impacting the area late week through the weekend.
Temperatures will be a bit cooler late week into the weekend with
the troughing with highs in the low to mid 50s.

.AVIATION...VFR conditions continue at all terminals early this
morning except for KHQM where an MVFR ceiling has spread in. A cold
front will be moving across the area today, bringing with it breezy
winds and a period of rain. As the front moves across each terminal
today, ceilings are likely to fall to MVFR and remain in this
category through this evening before an attempted recovery back
towards VFR as skies clear some overnight. Winds will be out of the
south generally 5-12kts through this morning, then becoming breezy
out of the S/SW behind the front at 10-15kts with gusts 18-22kts
through the evening.
KSEA...VFR into Sunday morning, becoming MVFR as rain moves in late
morning/early afternoon (18-20z). MVFR ceilings through the evening,
with potential recovery back to VFR overnight. S wind 5-10kts this
morning, becoming S/SW this afternoon and evening 10-15kts with a
few gusts near 20kts.

.MARINE...A cold front will push across the area today, bringing
with it the next round of rain and wind to the waters. As of 2AM,
the cold front was still located offshore. A few areas of showers
were noted along the Coast, but the bulk of the precipitation was
noted along or in very close proximity to the frontal boundary.
Winds have begun to increase over the offshore waters early this
morning, and a Gale Warning is in effect for the Outer Coastal
Waters. Closer towards sunrise, winds will noticeably begin to pick
up from out of the south over the interior waters, with all waters
encompassed within a Small Craft Advisory by 8AM. Rain will be
accompanying the front upon its arrival, and this may reduce
visibility over the waters at times. As the front progresses thru
the area through the afternoon and evening hours, winds will take on
a more westerly component and will not be quite as strong as they
were pre-frontal. Nevertheless, the potential for some spotty patches
of gale force winds remain likely over the Outer Coastal Waters, so
the Gale Warning will run thru 12z Monday. Another thing to watch
will be the intensity of a westerly push down the Strait of Juan de
Fuca. Model guidance has struggled in maintaining consistent
intensity of the post-frontal gradient. Have opted to show forecast
winds out of the west generally 29-32kts this afternoon and evening
for the Central and East Strait-but this will need to be monitored
closely for gale potential. All current Small Craft Advisories hold
thru 06z Monday.
Winds will calm back down on Monday, eliminating the need for new
headlines. These tranquil conditions will hold through Wednesday
morning, before winds begin to increase again ahead of the next
frontal system. Will likely see the next round of small craft
headlines beginning Wednesday and continuing through much of the
remaining week as the weather pattern becomes unsettled.
WAVES: Seas will build through the day today to between 10-12ft over
the offshore waters and towards the W Strait. Waves look to peak
this evening and overnight between 12-14 ft before gradually
subsiding through the day on Monday. This will bring the threat for
hazardous seas over the offshore waters/W Strait as wind come down,
allowing for a small craft advisory through Monday afternoon.
