.SYNOPSIS...High pressure remains centered well offshore, with
continued northwest flow aloft over the Pacific Northwest. A
series of disturbances will clip the region Saturday and Sunday
which will bring mountain snow, lowland rain, and breezy winds. A
deep upper trough over the central part of the country likely
shifts west early next week, with notably colder air likely
arriving across the area for much of next week.

.SHORT TERM /TONIGHT THROUGH MONDAY/...Strong high pressure over
the NE Pac will dominate the pattern through the weekend, placing
WA under moist NW flow. We're seeing some convergence in the
central/north sound this afternoon with light showers in King and
Snohomish counties. Light showers will likely continue tonight and
mainly affect the central and northern Cascades.
Another wave of moisture will wrap around the ridge and clip
western WA Saturday and Sunday. The main impact over this period
will again be snow in the Cascades which will affect all passes.
There's no significant break in the showers across the Cascades
and total snowfall through Sunday morning is around 1-2 ft.
Snoqualmie Pass will likely see a rain/snow mix through Saturday
but will see a change over to snow Saturday night with 6"
expected. Down in the lowlands, we'll see off-and-on rain with
overall totals 0.10-0.25" through the same period. We'll also see
some gusty S/SW winds 30-40 mph peaking during the day on
Saturday.
Showers will linger into Monday morning before this moisture wave
exits. There's a threat of lowland snow, especially areas near
the Cascades, but overall amounts look light and not very
impactful. Snow levels will be low but surface temps will be
warming to the low-mid 40s. 33
.LONG TERM /TUESDAY THROUGH FRIDAY/...The focus through the long
term is a trend toward cooler and likely drier conditions across
western WA as we flip to offshore flow. The most likely scenario
is temperatures dipping into the 20 to lower 30s as cooler air
seeps in from the east. Western Whatcom may dip into the teens
with gusty Fraser outflow winds. This will likely be the coolest
temps we've seen this season. Highs will be chilly too and only in
the 30s to around 40. Temperatures moderate a few degrees toward
the end of the week as offshore flow eases and a ridge moves in.

.AVIATION...Northwest flow aloft with an upper ridge offshore and
troughing east of the area. Light precipitation possible this
afternoon across areas of northern King and Snohomish County with
weak convergence over the area. The next system will move through
late tonight and Saturday for another round of lowland rain. MVFR
cigs for most this afternoon with LIFR/IFR in spots near the
convergence zone area. MVFR/IFR through Saturday. Southwest winds
for most today at 4 to 8 knots with winds increasing late tonight
into Saturday. Gusts on Saturday of 20 to 30 knots possible.
KSEA...MVFR through much of tonight into Saturday. VFR possible at
times this afternoon. Dry tonight with increasing light rain chances
by Saturday morning. Southwest winds 5 to 10 knots transitioning
more southerly tonight with gusts Saturday of 20 to 30 knots
