at this hour, with a few light showers approaching the Outer
Coast. Rain will spread across the region late tonight, making for
a west commute tomorrow morning.

SYNOPSIS...Dry weather into tonight as a ridge builds offshore. A
system will slide through the area Thursday into early Friday for
lowland and mountain snow. Troughing will develop across the
northern tier of the country for possibly a few fronts moving
through into early next week. Colder temperatures and lower snow
levels possible next week.
SHORT TERM /TONIGHT THROUGH SATURDAY/...Mostly dry weather
through this evening with increasing clouds as the next system
approaches. A system will slide along the northern periphery of
the ridge into Thursday and move across the area through Friday.
Lowland rain will increase Thursday morning, especially for areas
north of King County. Areas across the central and southern Puget
Sound may be generally drier through Thursday with northwest flow.
Mountain snow Thursday through Thursday night with heavy snow
possible at times Thursday night. A Winter Weather Advisory is in
effect for the Cascades mainly above 3000 feet. Heaviest amounts
near the Mt. Baker area with 12" of snow or slightly more
possible. 6-10" for the Passes, with a rain/snow mix possible for
Snoqualmie Pass late Thursday night into Friday morning. Some
precipitation may be around into late Friday, primarily across the
Cascades with the northwest flow. Temperatures in the upper 40s
to low 50s through Friday.
Troughing will develop across the northern tier of the country
into Saturday with a ridge located offshore. The ridge axis has
slid a bit west compared to prior guidance with more troughing
across the Pacific Northwest. An additional system is expected on
Saturday for lowland rain and mountain snow though amounts may not
be as heavy as the Thursday-Friday system. Temperatures in the mid
to upper 40s on Saturday with colder air filtering in behind the
front.
LONG TERM /SUNDAY THROUGH WEDNESDAY/...The trend on the most
recent guidance suggests troughing may impact the area a bit more
next week. The main focus with this will be the potential colder
temperatures for the area. Surface temperature anomalies in
ECMWF/GFS ensembles vary 5 to 10 degrees below normal Monday
through Wednesday. There is still quite the spread in ensemble
members Tuesday/Wednesday with temperatures, but cold overnight
low temps appear possible (20s-low 30s). The general trend will
need to be monitored over the next few days if the influence of
troughing continues for the area.
Along with the colder air, there is the potential for
precipitation to be around, with guidance mainly focusing on
Sunday-Monday. Snow levels are currently forecasted to be around
1500 feet Sunday afternoon to 500-1000 feet by Monday morning. If
moisture is sufficient, precipitation type will need to be
monitored especially early Monday, though current guidance has
rather light QPF amounts. Snow levels may be rather low through
Wednesday, and although the signal is drier Tuesday/Wednesday, any
precipitation will need to be monitored with the colder
temperatures.

CIGs will gradually lower through the remainder of the evening and
through tonight, with MVFR CIGs generally ranging from 1500-2500
ft by Thursday morning. Light rain with a warm front will mostly
affect the coastal and northern terminals Thursday morning and
afternoon. Southerly prevailing winds generally AOB 10kts through
the period.
KSEA...Dry weather will prevail through much of the overnight
hours with CIGs gradually lowering to 1500-2500 feet. Light rain
will spread across the region Thursday morning, likely affecting
the terminal around or after 15Z. Southerly prevailing winds AOB
10kts.

MARINE...High pressure over the NE Pacific will maintain
onshore flow over the next several days. Gale force westerlies are
possible through the Strait of Juan de Fuca Thursday night with a
stronger push. West swells may build to 10-12 feet Friday and
Saturday. The flow will weaken and turn offshore early next week.
