What forecasters said that day

The local office's own words before this small craft advisory went out, as it sent them, from the Iowa Environmental Mesonet's archive of National Weather Service text.

NWS Seattle, WA wrote its last area forecast discussion before this small craft advisory went out at Nov 9, 8:57 PM PST, 5 hours 43 minutes earlier.

Area forecast discussion, Nov 9, 8:57 PM PST, 5 hours 43 minutes before
Area Forecast Discussion
National Weather Service Seattle WA
857 PM PST Tue Nov 9 2021

.SYNOPSIS...Strong onshore flow will ease overnight. Scattered
showers should end Wednesday afternoon as Western Washington gets
a brief break in the weather. Rising snow levels and an
atmospheric river will bring heavy rain to the mountains later in
the week with a chance of river flooding.

&&

.SHORT TERM /TONIGHT THROUGH FRIDAY/...Weather settling down
across the area this evening with this trend continuing
overnight. Last band of heavier showers moving through the passes
in the next hour. Will allow the winter storm warning to expire at
10 pm.

Scattered showers Wednesday morning ought to end by afternoon for
a brief break in the weather. A warm front will arrive Wednesday
night and Thursday followed by an atmospheric river weather
pattern Thursday night and Friday--a strong, moist, and rather
warm plume of moisture will be directed into Western Washington
for a period of heavy rain--especially in the mountains. Felton/19

.LONG TERM /SATURDAY THROUGH TUESDAY/...Previous discussion
follows. The heavy rain will taper off Friday night and Saturday
looks like a break in rain. Another warm front might arrive
Saturday night and Sunday, followed by a cold front around Monday
afternoon or night. 19

&&

.AVIATION...Ceilings for the most part in the 4000-6000 foot range
overnight. MVFR ceilings near KPAE with convergence zone until
around 12z. Local ceilings 2000-3000 feet 14z-18z Wednesday
otherwise VFR ceilings continuing through Wednesday afternoon.

KSEA...Ceilings 4000-6000 feet through Wednesday afternoon.
Possible ceilings 2000-3000 feet at times 14z-17z Wednesday
morning. Southerly winds 8 to 12 knots easing Wednesday afternoon
then becoming easterly 4 to 8 knots Wednesday evening. Felton

&&

.MARINE...Winds settling down across the area this evening. Gale
warnings across the waters have been downgraded to small craft
advisories. There will be a break in the weather on Wednesday and
then a warm front will reach the area Wednesday night and
Thursday with gales over the coastal waters Wednesday night and
small craft advisory winds over portions of the remainder of the
waters. Winds easing over the weekend with high pressure building
into the area. Felton

&&

.HYDROLOGY...The Skokomish river remains above flood stage
with a flood warning, but there will be a break as we get into
Wednesday ahead of the atmospheric river that sets up for the end of
the week. A hydrologic outlook was issued for most of Western
Washington for Thursday night through Saturday as snow levels rise
and heavy rain falls in the mountains. 19
