.SYNOPSIS...A series of weather systems will move through
Western Washington through the first half of next week. The next
front will move through the area around Saturday morning. Wet
weather will continue on Sunday. Monday looks like a break in
the weather before another vigorous frontal system arrives on
Tuesday.

.SHORT TERM /TODAY THROUGH SUNDAY/...Showery today in the wake
of the latest front that moved through this morning. Another
shortwave will develop and move mainly into Oregon later tonight,
but that ought to give Western WA another shot of rain turning
to showers Saturday morning. The GFS takes a little low, probably
along with an instant occlusion, north through the coastal waters
on Saturday. With the sea level pressure higher today the tidal
anomalies will be negligible, but with a low over the coastal waters
on Saturday the coast will once again have a chance for overflow
at high tide Saturday afternoon.
Western WA will be on the cool side of the jetstream through the
weekend, and the mountains will finally start to pick up some snow.
The main passes should not be a problem since it wont be that cold,
but it will look nice on the trees--Paradise and Hurricane Ridge
will continue to look wintry. The north Cascades highway, plus
Cayuse and Chinook Pass ought to have snow on the roads at times.
Snoqualmie and Stevens Pass will be bare and wet most of the time,
but it isn't a bad idea to start thinking about how to make it
over the passes in the winter safely as worn summer tires become
increasingly useless. 19
.LONG TERM /MONDAY THROUGH THURSDAY/...Upper level troughing will
remain the dominant influence across the northeastern Pacific into
early next week, keeping the door open for additional systems to
move across western Washington. The next system on Tuesday looks
like it may bring another round of blustery winds to the region,
however will need to see how the forecast evolves over the coming
days. High temperatures will generally be in the upper 40s to low
50s across the majority of the lowlands. Guidance does hint at a
potential atmospheric river making its way towards the Pacific
Northwest late in the week, however most finer details still
remain rather uncertain this far out. 14

.AVIATION...Southwest flow continuing today as front exits to the
east of the region this morning and post-frontal shower activity
moves onshore. The air mass is moist and somewhat unstable.
Expecting mostly VFR conditions to prevail into this evening with
the exception of pockets of MVFR around heavier showers. Gusty S/SW
surface winds will relax this afternoon. Another stronger front
early Saturday again brings stronger winds and rain that will
again reduce visibility and lower ceilings.
KSEA...VFR prevailing with scattered showers in the vicinity of
the terminal into this afternoon. Ceilings lowering back to MVFR
09Z-12Z Saturday morning as rain arrives with next frontal system.
Winds ease and become southeasterly overnight, but another

.MARINE...Small craft advisories remain in place for all waters
today as post-frontal onshore flow gradually relaxes by afternoon.
Next system arrives on Saturday with possible gales again
developing. Meanwhile, seas will remain elevated over the coastal
waters in between rounds of stronger winds so expect continued
headlines over coastal waters through the weekend. Additional
disturbances will continue to parade across the waters this weekend
and into next week, with each bringing a round of stronger winds and

.HYDROLOGY...A flood warning remains in place for the Skokomish
River in Mason county--about 1.5 inches of rain fell in that basin
in the past 12 hours so the river will take awhile longer to drop
below flood stage at Potlatch, will probably shoot for something
this evening now. With wet weather continuing into about the first
half of next week, the Skokomish will continue to flirt with flood
stage. The snow level will be reasonable through early next week
so that will help with all the other rivers, but the system out
around Tue/Wed is probably the next one to watch. 19
