What forecasters said that day

The local office's own words before this small craft advisory went out, as it sent them, from the Iowa Environmental Mesonet's archive of National Weather Service text.

NWS Seattle, WA wrote its last area forecast discussion before this small craft advisory went out at Oct 11, 9:14 AM PDT, 5 hours 40 minutes earlier.

Area forecast discussion, Oct 11, 9:14 AM PDT, 5 hours 40 minutes before
Area Forecast Discussion
National Weather Service Seattle WA
914 AM PDT Mon Oct 11 2021

.SYNOPSIS...Generally cool and dry conditions through Tuesday,
with possible frost for some interior locations Tuesday morning.
The next front arrives by Tuesday night, bringing another round of
widespread precipitation through Wednesday. Additional systems
are expected for the second half of the week.

&&

.UPDATE...Update to sky/wx to reflect the ongoing patchy fog and
low clouds this morning. Expanded both spatial and temporal
extent to reflect some clouds lingering through the morning.
Remainder of forecast is on track with previous short/long term
discussion unchanged. Cullen

&&

.SHORT TERM /TODAY THROUGH WEDNESDAY/...Showers linger in the
interior early this morning as a trough departs the region. By
daybreak the isolated activity will be mostly in the central
Cascades and will continue to diminish as onshore flow eases.
Otherwise, dry northerly flow will set up over western WA for a
break in the rain. However, a cooler air mass will keep
temperatures below normal with highs in the 50s. Lows overnight
and into Tuesday morning will be chilly, especially around the
south sound, with temperatures dropping into the lower 30s - a
Frost Advisory is in effect.

Rain returns to western WA late Tuesday afternoon and evening as
the next Pacific frontal system slides inland. Snow levels in the
mountains will remain low, around 3500 feet, and the higher peaks
and passes (like Stevens Pass) may see another inch or two of
snow. Expect additional showers on Wednesday with a trailing upper
level trough. 33

.LONG TERM /THURSDAY THROUGH SUNDAY/...No changes. A weak upper
level ridge will bring a brief break in the weather on Thursday. A
warm front then stalls and weakens over southern B.C. Thursday
night and Friday, but may bring a little rain the the coast and
north part. Temperatures will moderate though (highs closer to 60)
and snow levels will be rising as well. More rain may clip us
over the weekend with flat ridging and nearly zonal flow over the
area. 33

&&

.AVIATION...Upper level ridging offshore will build into the
region today as an upper level trough departs further southward
towards the Great Basin. This will promote northerly flow aloft
today. Showers have primarily dissipated across the majority of
the region this morning, with latest radar only showing a few weak
echos offshore and in a weak convergence zone across the central
Sound. Given ample moisture still present in the low levels, areas
of fog and low stratus will continue to linger through the
morning hours, with clouds expected to scatter this afternoon.
Surface winds will remain light (generally at 3-8 kts) and should
gradually transition to the north through the morning. 14

KSEA...Areas of low clouds persistent through the morning hours
for brief MVFR to IFR cigs. Clouds should scatter out by afternoon
as high pressure and northerly flow aloft dry the air over western
Washington. Winds will remain light-transitioning to the north at
3-7 kts. 14

&&

.MARINE...High pressure will build across the offshore waters
today for overall light winds for the area waters. Seas and rough
bar conditions will keep small craft advisories up for the coast,
Grays Harbor Bar, and for the western entrance to the Strait. The
next front will bring another round of stronger southerlies to
the area waters on Tuesday, likely yielding another round of
headlines for the region.

Seas will hover near 10-12 feet today, before gradually subsiding
to 5-8 feet on Tuesday. Seas are then expected to build back above
10 feet again by midweek. 14

&&
