.SYNOPSIS...A frontal system continues to approach the area.
Scattered rain showers and breezy winds will persist through the
rest of the day. The bulk of the rain associated with the system
will move arrive late tonight and continue into Thursday morning.
Dryer conditions expected for Friday and through the weekend.
Unsettled weather will return next week.

.SHORT TERM /TONIGHT THROUGH SATURDAY/...Southerly winds continue to
increase as a warm front tracks through the area. The windiest
locations will be the along the north coast, Western Whatcom, the
islands in the Salish Sea as well as the eastern portions of
Jefferson county. Winds will peak during the overnight and will
remain breezy but gradually ease throughout the day. Widespread
rain will move in late tonight and will continue through the first
half of Thursday. Rain will be heavy at times causing decreases
in visibility and could cause some localized ponding at times.
Rain will begin to ease during the afternoon, but scattered
showers will likely linger through the rest of the day. Once the
cold front moves through on Thursday an area of high pressure will
begin to move into the area. This high pressure will give Western
Washington a dry weekend. Expect high temperatures to be in the
60s for the bulk of the lowlands and 40s to 50s in the mountains.
For those seeking blue skies, the clearest skies are expected to
be on Friday.

.LONG TERM /SUNDAY THROUGH WEDNESDAY/...While high pressure will
still be over the area on Sunday a disturbance passing through BC
lead to increased cloudiness and give the northern portions of the
area a chance of some light rain showers. A weak frontal system is
expected to move through Monday and Tuesday and the pattern will
remain unsettled for mid week. At this time precipitation from
this system is expected to be fairly light and scattered.

.AVIATION...Westerly flow aloft will become southwesterly and
increase tonight ahead of a vigorous frontal system. VFR ceilings
will lower to MVFR late tonight as rain increases. Widespread low
MVFR or IFR ceilings in moderate to locally heavy rain expected by
daybreak Thursday with local surface visibility reduced to 3-5SM.
Very gusty S/SE surface winds can be expected along coastal areas
and the North Interior of Western Washington this evening into
Thursday morning.
KSEA...VFR ceilings with occasional light rain expected through late
this evening. Ceilings will lower to MVFR overnight as rain
increases ahead of the approaching front. Ceilings could lower to
IFR in moderate rain for few hours mid to late morning Thursday as
the front pushes through the area. A period of low level wind shear
is possible between 06Z-12Z tonight as winds just above the surface
increase...near 40 knots at 2000 feet and 50 to 60 knots at 5000

Gale force south to southeasterly winds are expected with the front

waters. Small craft advisory winds are expected for the remainder of
area waters. Winds across Puget Sound and Hood Canal will likely
peak during the morning Thursday as the cold front pushes inland.
