.UPDATE...The forecast is largely on track this evening, with no
need for much in the way of updates.
Water vapor imagery this evening depicts a subtle perturbation in
the mid levels near the Northern Oregon Coast, while a much more
robust shortwave trough (and strong jet) lies well upstream over
the Pacific around 150W and 50N. Ahead of both of these shortwave features,
high level cloud cover is on the increase across W WA, while
stratus redevelops along the Coast. In the low levels, a frontal
system resides well offshore the WA Coast, with a warm frontal
boundary lifting into NW Vancouver Island this evening. Abundant
rainfall is depicted with MRMS radar imagery in its vicinity.
Should be a quiet night tonight, although the features just
discussed will be moving east and approaching the area for Sunday.
Stratus will develop inland overnight, leading to mostly cloudy
to overcast skies for many by daybreak Sunday (there will be some
pockets of blue sky in spots still). Rain should reach the Coast a
few hours before sunrise, with rain then increasing over the
interior through the morning and afternoon. South winds will
become breezy quickly during the morning, esp near water.

.SHORT TERM /TONIGHT THROUGH TUESDAY/...Dry weather this
afternoon with temperatures into the 70s and even into the low
80s, with cool temperatures along the coast in the 60s. A front
will near the area tonight and move onshore Sunday morning. Rain
will slowly slide east across the area during the day on Sunday
into Sunday evening. The heaviest rain will be Sunday evening into
Sunday night with the front. Winds will be breezy with the front,
especially Sunday night, with the main focus being along the
coast and northern areas near the water. Gusts of 25-35 MPH
possible in these areas, along with a few power outages possible.
Isolated thunderstorms possible Sunday night along the coast with
troughing offshore. Cooler weather Sunday with high in the 60s for
the area.
The upper trough will be over the area Monday into Tuesday. The
pattern will be more showery these days, with the potential for
isolated thunderstorms, mainly during the afternoon and early
evening each day. Temperatures will be each day with highs in the
upper 50s to mid 60s for the area.
.LONG TERM /WEDNESDAY THROUGH SATURDAY/...The trough will slide
east on Wednesday for potentially dry weather, though another
system will near the area later Wednesday for precipitation
chances along the coast. Ensembles in general agreement this front
will slide through on Thursday, weakening as it does so, for rain
and possibly breezy winds. Troughing over the area on Friday,
though a drier weather expected with potentially ridging building
over the area on Saturday. Temperatures mainly in the low to mid
60s through the week, warming a bit on Saturday. JD

AVIATION...High level clouds continue to increase this evening,
with stratus redeveloping along the Coast. Overnight, expect high
clouds to continue, with stratus developing inland and affecting
many of the TAF sites by sunrise Sunday. Ceilings look to remain
lowest along the Coast (LIFR-IFR) with MVFR likely elsewhere. MVFR
and VFR ceilings could mix around and east of Puget Sound ahead of
widespread rain and a frontal boundary Sunday morning and
afternoon, but should see widespread MVFR (LIFR likely along the
Coast) across the area by Sunday evening.
South winds will pick up Sunday morning, sustained 10-15kts, with
some gusts around 20kts. Winds likely to be breeziest Sunday night
and will coincide with winds around 35-50kts 2-3kft AGL. LLWS
could be possible but this is currently just outside the latest
TAF cycle.
KSEA...High clouds overnight, with stratus building in towards
daybreak Sunday. Could see a mix of MVFR and VFR ceilings around
SeaTac through the morning and afternoon, but increasing rain will
quickly drop ceilings by mid-afternoon onward. Breezy south winds,
10-15kts, with some gusts towards 20kts possible.

west to east tonight into tomorrow morning, with all waters

through the waters Sunday, Monday and again later Wednesday into
