waters will inundate farm lands...roads...and residential areas.
The flood may overtop levees. In addition...flood waters could
overflow and flood the Sumas drainage. Flooding will occur all
along the river including headwaters...tributaries...and other
streams within and near the Nooksack River Basin.

will have a final push on the river levels but should only drive
them up slightly more before the rains taper off.

including over Pioneer Highway. A stage of 14 feet on the
Stillaguamish River corresponds roughly to Phase 2 in the
Snohomish County Flood program.

- At 9:40 AM PST Monday the stage was 12.3 feet.
- Forecast...The river is expected to rise above flood stage

for this location corresponds to a Phase 1 flood in the Skagit
County flood system.

flood waters will inundate many roads...farms...and some business
and residential areas especially Cape Horn...Hamilton...and
Thunderbird. Cockreham Island...the Nookachamps area and the
Sterling area will be inundated. Levees east of Sedro Woolley may
be damaged. This level for this location on the Skagit
corresponds to a Phase 1 flood in the Skagit County flood system.

* WHAT...Major flooding is occurring and minor flooding is forecast.
The river set a record with a crest near 150.4 feet early Monday
evening.
* WHERE...Nooksack River At North Cedarville.
* WHEN...Until late this afternoon.
* IMPACTS...At 150.0 feet, the Nooksack River will cause major near
record flooding downstream through Lynden. Deep and swift flood
waters will inundate farm lands...roads...and residential areas.
The flood may overtop levees. In addition...flood waters could
overflow and flood the Sumas drainage. Flooding will occur all
along the river including headwaters...tributaries...and other
streams within and near the Nooksack River Basin.
* ADDITIONAL DETAILS...
- At 11:00 PM PST Monday the stage was 148.9 feet.
- Recent Activity...The maximum river stage in the 24 hours
ending at 7:15 PM PST Monday was 150.4 feet.
- Forecast...The river is expected to fall below flood stage
this morning and continue falling through Wednesday.

Nooksack River At North Cedarville affecting Whatcom County.
.Little if any precipitation is forecast for today. The Nooksack at
North Cedarville will continue to recede today.
PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...
Motorists should not attempt to drive around barricades or drive
cars through flooded areas.
Flooding is occurring or is imminent. Most flood related deaths
occur in automobiles. Do not attempt to cross water covered bridges,
dips, or low water crossings. Never try to cross a flowing stream,
even a small one, on foot. To escape rising water find another route
over higher ground.
Be especially cautious at night when it is harder to recognize the
dangers of flooding.
Turn around, don't drown when encountering flooded roads. Most flood
deaths occur in vehicles.

* IMPACTS...At 23.0 feet, the Nooksack River will cause major near
record flooding from near Ferndale downstream to the mouth,
overtopping levees on both sides of the river and flooding
roadways on the Lummi Peninsula including Hexton Way. Deep and
swift flood waters will inundate residential areas, farm lands,
and roads. In addition, flood waters could overflow and flood the
Sumas drainage. Flooding will occur all along the river including
headwaters, tributaries, and other streams within and near the
Nooksack River Basin.
