the storm has already started driving the Skagit River back up and
with the river system already full of water, it could crest above
major flood.
PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...
Motorists should not attempt to drive around barricades or drive
cars through flooded areas.
Turn around, don't drown when encountering flooded roads. Most flood

...The Flood Warning continues for the following rivers in
Washington...
Skagit River Near Concrete affecting Skagit County.
.Drier weather will persist over the next few days. However, with so
much water in the system, it will take some time to drain the flood
waters. In addition, the dams on the Skagit were able to absorb a
significant part of the flood but with the reservoirs near maximum
pool levels, water must be released. This will slow the recession of
the river levels downstream.
PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...
Motorists should not attempt to drive around barricades or drive
cars through flooded areas.
Caution is urged when walking near riverbanks.

forecast.
* WHERE...Skagit River Near Concrete.
* WHEN...Until tomorrow afternoon.
* IMPACTS...At 28.0 feet, the Skagit River will flood low areas and
sections of roads along the river from Rockport downstream to
Sedro Woolley. This level for this location on the Skagit
corresponds to a Phase 3 flood in the Skagit County flood system.
* ADDITIONAL DETAILS...
- At 2:45 PM PST Wednesday the stage was 29.8 feet.
- Recent Activity...The maximum river stage in the 24 hours
ending at 1:45 AM PST Wednesday was 32.3 feet.
- Forecast...The river is expected to fall below flood stage
late tonight and continue falling to 23.7 feet late Friday
evening.
- Flood stage is 28.0 feet.

.Rain will move into the area Thursday afternoon but will not be
enough to slow down the recession of the Skagit River through Friday.
PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...
Motorists should not attempt to drive around barricades or drive
cars through flooded areas.
Flooding is occurring or is imminent. Most flood related deaths
occur in automobiles. Do not attempt to cross water covered bridges,
dips, or low water crossings. Never try to cross a flowing stream,
even a small one, on foot. To escape rising water find another route
over higher ground.
Caution is urged when walking near riverbanks.
Turn around, don't drown when encountering flooded roads. Most flood
deaths occur in vehicles.

* IMPACTS...At 32.0 feet, the Skagit River will cause major flooding
from Sedro Woolley downstream through Mount Vernon to the mouth.
Deep and swift flood waters will inundate many roads...farmlands
and residential areas. Flooding will occur all along the river
including headwaters...tributaries...and other streams within and
near the Skagit River Basin. This level for this location on the
Skagit corresponds to a Phase 2 flood in the Skagit County flood
system.
* ADDITIONAL DETAILS...
