...FROST ADVISORY REMAINS IN EFFECT UNTIL 9 AM MDT THIS MORNING...
...FREEZE WARNING IN EFFECT FROM 3 AM TO 9 AM MDT TUESDAY...

* WHAT...For the Freeze Warning, sub-freezing temperatures as 
  low as 31 expected. For the Frost Advisory, temperatures as 
  low as 34 will result in frost formation.

* WHERE...The Snake River plain, including the lava beds and the
  Mud Lake desert.

* WHEN...For the Freeze Warning, from 3 AM to 9 AM MDT Tuesday. 
  For the Frost Advisory, until 9 AM MDT this morning.

* IMPACTS...Frost and freeze conditions will kill crops, other 
  sensitive vegetation and possibly damage unprotected outdoor 
  plumbing.

* PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

Take steps now to protect tender plants from the cold. To prevent
freezing and possible bursting of outdoor water pipes they should
be wrapped, drained, or allowed to drip slowly. Those that have
in-ground sprinkler systems should drain them and cover above-
ground pipes to protect them from freezing.

TUESDAY...

* WHAT...For the first Frost Advisory, temperatures as low as 36 
  will result in frost formation. For the second Frost Advisory, 
  temperatures as low as 33 will result in frost formation.

* WHERE...The eastern Magic Valley, including Burley, Rupert, 
  Heyburn, and Oakley.

* WHEN...For the first Frost Advisory, until 9 AM MDT this 
  morning. For the second Frost Advisory, from 3 AM to 9 AM MDT 
  Tuesday.

* IMPACTS...Frost could kill sensitive outdoor vegetation if left
  uncovered. Plants that can be moved inside should be.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

Take steps now to protect tender plants from the cold.

.SHORT TERM...Tonight through Tuesday night. East Idaho remains
under the influence of closed upper low over Western Montana
through tonight. Cool northwest flow wrapping around the low will
be responsible for a few showers through tonight as the low sags
south into Idaho. Temperatures remain very cool tonight, and we
have issued a Frost Advisory for the Snake River Plain zones,
though sporadic cloud cover as the low rotates south may limit
frost formation. Still, temperatures are cool enough to be a
concern for temperature-sensitive plants. As the low reaches
Idaho Monday, expect showers to be a lingering concern, but the
effects will be mainly over higher elevations. Any showers that
can make it into lower elevations, particularly Monday evening or
overnight Monday night could be cold enough to be snow though
accumulations will be limited at lower elevations both due to
limited moisture availability and warmer ground temperatures.
There is also some weak instability during the day Monday, so a
thunderstorm or two wont be out of the question. Upper low shifts
rather quickly out of the region to the southeast during the day
Tuesday, so drier conditions are expected most areas with plenty
of sunshine, though a few lingering showers may be possible in
the Bear Lake area. Dry and continued cool is expected through
Tuesday night. DMH

.LONG TERM...Wednesday through Sunday.
Expect dry and warm conditions Wednesday with highs above normal
with valleys in the 70s and mainly 60s in the mountains.  Will be
even warmer Thursday and Friday with many sites reaching the 80s by
Friday.  For the most part dry conditions will remain with only the
eastern highlands getting showers and thunderstorms those days.
Expect more widespread showers and thunderstorms Saturday and Sunday
as the next Pacific trof moves through Idaho with temperatures
beginning to cool down next weekend as well.  After the very mild
temperatures Friday will see about a 10 degree cool down Friday to
Sunday but remaining slightly above normal.  There is a reasonable
chance of some windy conditions Friday through Saturday ahead of and
behind a cold frontal passage.  That far out confidence low in model
accuracy.

.AVIATION...
Upper level trof still lingering the next two days over Idaho and
expect some cloud cover but should remain at VFR levels at the TAF
sites through Monday and also showers in the vicinity this evening
tonight and Monday.  Most likely time to actually see precipitation
on station is after 18Z Monday.   Peak sustained wind speeds likely
in the 10 knot range this afternoon and evening as well as Monday
afternoon.
