At 842 PM EDT, Doppler radar was tracking strong thunderstorms along
a line extending near Harrington. Movement was east at 20 mph.
HAZARD...Winds in excess of 40 mph.

.SYNOPSIS...
Bermuda high pressure will continue to influence our weather
into Friday. A cold front approaching from the northwest is
forecast to arrive on Saturday. The boundary is expected to
stall to the south of our region for Sunday into the early part
of the new week as high pressure builds across New York and New
England.

.NEAR TERM /THROUGH WEDNESDAY/...
Multiple rounds of thunderstorms, some severe, have been affecting
the region late this afternoon and early this evening. Activity now
entering eastern PA and the Chesapeake region may hold together at
least in some form for another few hours, though CAM guidance is
insistent it should begin to weaken/dissipate at any time. Given
plenty of instability still ahead of it, seems unlikely it will fall
apart all at once, but it will be outrunning the already limited
forcing, and shear is limited. Once the Sun goes down and starts to
cut down on the instability, that is probably when we will see a
more pronounced weakening trend. Additional activity over New Jersey
will be moving offshore towards the sunset hour, but poses a
continued risk for gusty, but sub-severe, wind until then. By the
midnight hour, expect dry conditions to prevail across the region.
Very mild and humid overnight with patchy fog. Light south to
southwest winds.
Wednesday...Heat headlines remain in place. Sunny, hot and
humid with highs in the 90s most areas and upper 80s (only) at
the shore and NW higher areas. Mostly dry early then a few sct
showers/tstms for the afternoon. Slight chc pops for NJ shore
areas and ern DE with small chc pops for PA, north NJ and ern
shore areas of MD. Apparent temps in the 90s for shore areas and
NW hills and low 100s for most other areas.

.SHORT TERM /WEDNESDAY NIGHT THROUGH FRIDAY/...
The Excessive Heat Warning and Heat Advisory for Wednesday
night and Thursday remain in effect.
The mid level wave associated with the convection in Missouri
and vicinity this afternoon should reach our region on Wednesday
night. Scattered to isolated showers and thunderstorms are
possible at that time. However, the activity may weaken a bit
with the loss of daylight.
Even though Thursday should be the peak of the heat and
humidity, a fairly strong cap is anticipated. As a result,
showers and thunderstorms are expected to be limited. We may see
some remnant convection approach and enter our northwestern
counties late in the day but is should weaken during the
nighttime hours.
High temperatures on Thursday will favor the 90s with heat
index values in excess of 100 at most locations.
Friday is anticipated to be almost as hot and humid as
Thursday. It seems likely that we will need to extend the
Excessive Heat Warning and the Heat Advisory for another day, as
we get closer in time.
It appears as though there will be a slightly better potential
for convection on Friday than on Thursday as the cap weakens a
little. The chance of precipitation seems better in the terrain
of eastern Pennsylvania and northern New Jersey than at points
to the southeast.

.LONG TERM /FRIDAY NIGHT THROUGH TUESDAY/...
A cold front is forecast to approach from the northwest on
Saturday and it should pass through our region on Saturday
night. The excessive heat and humidity will begin to get knocked
back at that time. It should also present our best potential
for widespread showers and thunderstorms.
The frontal boundary will likely stall to our south across
southeastern Maryland, southern Virginia and the adjacent waters
for Sunday through Tuesday. Meanwhile, high pressure is
anticipated to build across New York and New England. The
pattern will maintain a chance of showers and thunderstorms
across parts of eastern Maryland, Delaware and far southern New
Jersey through the period. The potential for precipitation may
begin to lift slowly back to the north in a developing return
flow as we get into the new week.
Temperatures and humidity levels are expected to be on the
decrease, with highs settling into the 80s with lows mainly in
the 60s.

The following discussion is for KPHL, KPNE, KTTN, KABE, KRDG, KILG,
KMIV, KACY and surrounding areas.
Through tonight... Prevailing VFR, but localized restrictions
possible as showers/tstms slowly diminish thru 02Z/03Z. Decreasing
clouds later tonight. Patchy fog development is possible, but does
not look like it will be very widespread or dense as winds may stay
up just enough to prevent fog. Have included some MVFR TEMPO groups
at a few of the terminals. Winds S to SSW at 5 to 7 kt, but may be
light and variable at times. Erratic winds also possible near any
showers and storms through 03z. Moderate confidence overall.
Wednesday...VFR after patchy morning fog. Sct Cu mostly, few
showers possible late afternoon, but not in TAFS attm. SW winds
5 to 10 knots.
Outlook...
Thursday...Early morning low clouds and visibility restrictions
are possible, otherwise mainly VFR. Southwest around 10 knots.
Medium confidence.
Friday...Early morning low clouds and visibility restrictions
are possible, otherwise mainly VFR. A chance of afternoon and
evening showers and thunderstorms. Southwest around 10 knots.
