* IMPACTS...At this level, widespread roadway flooding occurs in

vulnerable structures may begin to occur. At this level,
flooding begins on the most vulnerable roads in coastal and
bayside communities, and along inland tidal waterways. Some
partial or full road closures are possible.
PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...
A Coastal Flood Advisory means that minor tidal flooding is
expected. Minor tidal flooding often results in some road
closures. Usually, the most vulnerable roadways will flood.
Do not leave your vehicle at a location that is prone to tidal
flooding. Do not drive your vehicle through flood waters. The
water may be deeper than you think it is. You will be putting
yourself in danger and your vehicle may be damaged, leading to
costly repairs.

Area Forecast Discussion National Weather Service Mount Holly NJ 338 PM EST Thu Dec 30 2021 .SYNOPSIS... A weak boundary remains south of the area through Friday. Low pressure will lift that boundary north as a warm front on Saturday. Several waves of low pressure will affect the area through the weekend, and then a cold front passes through Sunday night and Monday. High pressure builds east for much of the new week. The next frontal boundary looks to affect the area late next week. && .NEAR TERM /THROUGH FRIDAY/... An area of low pressure to our southeast, continues to pull away from the region this afternoon. Meanwhile, another area of low pressure will move through North Carolina tonight and off the east coast on Friday. A mid level shortwave will move across to the north of the region overnight. Some warming was able to establish itself across the forecast area today mainly due to the strength of the warm advection even despite the considerable and prolonged cloud cover we've had across the region. Sky cover has thinned in spots and some breaks have formed across the region early this afternoon. With that in mind and light winds expected to continue, there is an increased chance that we will see fog develop overnight and it looks like it may be more widespread and denser than last night. With some uncertainty as to exactly where it may reach advisory criteria, we will hold off on any headlines for now but will monitor webcams and observations and issue as the need arises. With continued overcast skies overnight and the potential for drizzle/light rain, it will certainly be mild for our area. Overnight lows will be in the 40s across the forecast area. As we head into Friday, we will still have fog around through the morning but it should start to dissipate as we head towards midday and we start to see some drying take place in the lower levels. However, the lower clouds may hang around through midday and into the afternoon, with us never fully clearing out. Another shortwave may move through the region later in the day with some showers possible maybe towards early evening, especially across our northern and western zones. Warm advection increases across the region on Friday and daytime highs will respond in kind. High temperatures will be into the 50s through much of the region, with some upper 40s across the higher elevations of northeast PA and northwest NJ. && .SHORT TERM /FRIDAY NIGHT THROUGH SATURDAY NIGHT/... Weak WAA will be underway Friday evening. A weak area of low pressure will drag a warm front north through the region Friday night. Most of the first half of the night should remain dry. Another area of low pressure will develop over the Gulf Coast and Southeast and lift towards the region late Friday night. Rain and fog develops after midnight and towards daybreak Saturday. Rain continues through the day Saturday as that low passes west of the region. A warm and relatively humid day Saturday with highs around 15 degrees or so above normal. Record highs should largely be safe. Rain tapers off Saturday night as low pressure lifts to the north and east. The boundary remains over the area through the overnight hours. A warm (by January standards) night Saturday night with lows in the 50s. && .LONG TERM /SUNDAY THROUGH THURSDAY/... That frontal boundary remains over the area Sunday morning, and yet another area of low pressure over the Gulf Coast and Southeast will track along that boundary Sunday morning. The front begins to pull away, but models indicating another low developing on that boundary Sunday evening. Cold air advection will begin to spread into the region during this time, and any rain may begin to mix with and change to snow. However, the bulk of the precip should remain offshore, so any snow that falls would be light, and winding down from northwest to southeast. Not anticipating widespread accumulating snow during this time. Should that low track a bit farther to the north and west, it may pull enough warm air northward to keep precip as mostly rain. Should the low track farther to the south and east, more cold air should seep southward, but the bulk of the precip will stay offshore. Cold front then swings through late Sunday night through Monday morning. Overnight lows will drop into the teens in the southern Poconos to the mid and upper 20s elsewhere, and highs on Monday will be several degrees below normal for this time of year, topping off in the low to mid 30s. High pressure gradually builds in from the west. Temperatures will moderate through the week, and should be back above normal by Wednesday. Another system may bring some precip to the area on Thursday. && .AVIATION /20Z THURSDAY THROUGH TUESDAY/... The following discussion is for KPHL, KPNE, KTTN, KABE, KRDG, KILG, KMIV, KACY and surrounding areas. Rest of this afternoon...Spotty VFR as breaks in the cloud deck cross the region. However, expect MVFR then becoming IFR as we move through late afternoon into this evening. Light and variable winds. Moderate confidence. Tonight...MVFR will drop to IFR and then potentially LIFR overnight due to ceilings and dense fog at the terminals. Light and variable winds. Generally moderate confidence with lower confidence on extent of LIFR conditions. Friday...IFR/LIFR in the morning will improve to MVFR towards the late morning or early afternoon as fog clears and ceilings lift.
